Language points
1. Mine was a copy of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.
我的是梵高《向日葵》的一幅復制品。
（1）mine 是名詞性物主代詞，意為“我的”。在句子中不能作定語，但可以作主語、賓語或表語。
例句：The book is mine. Yours is on the desk.
這本書是我的。你的在桌子上。
（2）a...of mine 是一種固定表達，意為“我的一個……”。
例句：I found an old photo of mine under the bed.
我在床底下發現了一張我的舊照片。
（3）mine 還可以作動詞，意為“采礦”，此時其名詞形式是miner，意為“礦工”。
例句：People still mine for coal in this area. 人們還在這個地區開采煤礦。
His father was a miner ten years ago. 他父親十年前是一名礦工。
2. “These remind me of my holidays there,” Bill added.
“這些讓我想起了我在那里度過的假期，”比爾補充道。
（1）remind v. 使想起
remind... of 意為“使……想起……”，其中remind 是及物動詞，后面一般接表示人的名詞或代詞賓格，of 后面接表示物的名詞起補充說明作用。
例句：This song reminds me of my high school days.
這首歌讓我想起了我的高中時光。
（2）remind 作動詞，還可意為“提醒”。常用搭配：
remind sb. to do sth. 提醒某人做某事
remind sb. about sth. 提醒某人關于某事
remind sb. + that 從句 提醒某人……
（1）add v. 意為“補充說”，通常用于引出直接或間接引語。
例句：“You can come here a little earlier,” Tom added.
“你可以更早一點來這兒，”湯姆補充說道。
（2）add 作動詞，還可意為“加；增加”，常見搭配：
a. add sth. to sth. 把某物添加到某物中
例句：He added some honey to his tea. 他在茶中加入了一些蜂蜜。
b. add up 把……加起來
例句：Please add up the numbers and give me the total.
請把這些數字加起來并告訴我總數。
c. add up to + 數字 總共達到……；加起來達到……
例句：The students in the two schools add up to 2,500.
這兩所學校的學生加起來有2500 人。
3. Tim explained why. 蒂姆解釋了原因
explain v. 意為“解釋；說明”。
explain 常見搭配：
（1）explain sth. （to sb.）（向某人）解釋某事
例句：He explained all the problems to us.
他向我們解釋了所有的問題。
（2）explain +“疑問詞+ 動詞不定式” 解釋……
例句： Tom explained to his boss why he was late.
湯姆向他的老板解釋了他為什么遲到。
4. When you get deep into it, you will find it more interesting.當你深入進去
后，你會發現它更有趣。
（1）deep 形容詞：深的；深刻的；深奧的；濃厚的
副詞：深深地；深入地
The river is 5 meters deep. 這條河5米深。
（2）deep in sth.深陷于 / 專注于
be deep in a book
（3）get deep into sth.：表示對某事物深入研究、探討
例句：If you get deep into the history of ancient China, you’ll be amazed by it.
如果你深入研究中國古代史，你會為之驚嘆。
