Twice as much fish is consumed in this area compared to other forms of animal protein, reflecting the long coastlines and river environments of Southeast Asia. The staple food (主糧) throughout the area is rice, which has been planted for thousands of years. Rice serves as the basic staple food for more than half of the world's population today. In Asia, there are different styles of eating food. In India and the Middle East, as well as Southeast Asia, people eat food with their hands. It is a very direct way to experience the texture (口感) of the food, and people normally wash their hands before and after each meal. Normally, only the right hand is used, so that one knows to keep it especially clean. Generally, the foods to be eaten are placed on plates in the center of the mat or table, and people take food in small portions (一份) as they eat.The exception to this pattern is Vietnam, where the influence of China was much stronger than anywhere else in Southeast Asia. Here, each person has chopsticks, and food is served and divided among people onto individual plates or into individual bowls. A similar pattern is found in other Asian countries where Chinese influence was especially strong, e. g. Japan, Korea and so on.The influence of Western cultures is found not only in the use of tables and chairs in many modern Southeast Asian households, but also in the use of spoons and forks. Knives are not necessary, since meat and vegetables are cut into smaller portions before cooking or serving. A large spoon is held in the right hand, while the left hand is used to shovel food into the spoon.28.What can be known from the first two paragraphs A.Most of the Asians live in the cities.B.Most people eat food with their hands throughout Asia.C.Rice serves as the non-staple food in most areas in Southeast.D.Southeast Asians eat more fish than other forms of animal protein.29.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to A.The food. B.The meal.C.The right hand. D.The texture of the food.30.In what aspect is Vietnam an exception A.People there eat with their hands.B.People take food from plates with chopsticks.C.Food is served and shared into a large plate or bowl.D.Japanese influence is seen more than Chinese influence.31.What is mainly discussed in the last paragraph A.Food culture in Western countries.B.The adoption of metal eating tools.C.The introduction of seating furniture.D.Changes caused by Western cultures.DIn the lab, most mice go as far as to take electric shocks in their desperation to consume sugar. Mice aren't alone. Humans do something similar. Daily snacking on processed foods, studies show, rewires the brain's reward circuits (回路).Ashley Gearhardt, a clinical psychologist at the University of Michigan, argues that highly processed foods, very high in fat and carbohydrate, don't exist naturally. “They're designed by food scientists to look a certain way, feel a certain way in your mouth, smell a certain way when you open the package,” she says, “people aren't losing control over beans.”In highly processed snacks, sugar often goes together with fat—a combination that could make such foods even more addictive. For a 2023 study, DeFeliceantonio's team asked 82 people to snack on either high fat, high sugar yogurts or low sugar, low fat ones for eight weeks. The scientists discovered not only that the first group's preference for the healthier yogurts decreased after the trial but that their brain activation patterns changed, too. When tasting fatty, sugary milkshakes, they had an increased response in their reward circuits. “Highly processed foods are controlling the brain in a way you'd see with addiction to drugs,” DeFeliceantonio says.In 2022, Gearhardt and DeFeliceantonio published an opinion piece in the journal Addiction arguing that highly processed foods should be classified (分類(lèi)) as addictive. Hebebrand, a psychiatrist at the University of Duisburg Essen, however, worries that rushing to classify certain foods as addictive could let the sugar industry make an easy escape. It may be following “the playbook of the tobacco industry”. After all, there was no clear proof that nicotine (尼古丁) was addictive, either: researchers didn't know the dosage (劑量) at which it became addictive. As a result, the addictive nature of tobacco was opposed for decades. Considering highly processed foods' harmful health effects, Gearhardt argues that it's better to risk misclassifying highly processed foods as addictive than to fail to label (貼標(biāo)簽) them as such. “It's cigarettes all over again,” she says.32.What does Paragraph 2 suggest A.Processed foods are tastier than natural ones.B.Beans are much healthier than processed foods.C.People can become addicted to processed foods.D.The design of processed foods takes great effort.33.According to the 2023 study, those eating high fat, high sugar yogurts have ________.A.decreased response to healthy foods in reward systemB.increased likelihood of developing addiction to drugsC.increased difficulty in activating the brain with drugsD.decreased interest in highly processed snacks34.What is Hebebrand's attitude towards classifying sugar addictive A.Supportive. B.Cautious.C.Unconcerned. D.Unclear.35.What does Gearhardt mean by saying “It's cigarettes all over again”?A.It's time we labeled tobacco as addictive.B.The market will be filled with processed foods.C.We should classify sugar as addictive before it's too late.D.It's a mistake to have misclassified cigarettes as addictive. Food plays an essential role in our lives and rightfully so: The food we eat is related to our culture. __36__. Don't believe me Here's why food is the best way to understand a culture:__37__.It doesn't matter where you're from—you have to eat. Your social culture most likely developed from the need to eat. Once they surpassed hunting and gathering, many early civilizations organized themselves in ways that promoted food distribution and production. That also meant that the animals, land and resources you were near governed what you'd consume and how you'd prepare and cook it.Food preservation techniques are unique to climates and lifestyles.Ever wonder why the process to preserve meat is so different around the world __38__. In Morocco, if preserved correctly, Khlea, a dish, is still good for two years when stored at room temperature. That makes much sense in Morocco, which has had a strong nomadic (游牧的) population, desert landscape, and extremely warm, dry temperatures. The main local cuisines illustrate historical eating patterns. Some societies have cuisines that are entirely based on meat, and others are almost entirely plant based. India's cuisine is extremely varied from region to region, with meat and wheat heavy dishes in the far north, to spectacular fish delicacies in the east, to rice based vegetarian diets in the south. __39__.Food tourism. __40__. A food tourist won't just focus on having a pint at Oktoberfest, but will be interested in learning the German beer making process, and possibly how they can make their own fresh beer. Since their interest in food is more than meal deep, the tourists have the chance to learn local preparation techniques that can lead to other aspects of a particular region's culture.A.Food affects the civilizationB.Food is a universal necessityC.And the western part is home to strict vegetariansD.Some people have a trip just for enjoying the foodE.It has to do with local resources, needs, and climatesF.You can learn much about a particular culture by exploring their foodG.Some people have taken the combination of food and culture to a new level第三部分 語(yǔ)言運(yùn)用(共兩節(jié),滿(mǎn)分30分)第一節(jié)(共15小題;每小題1分,滿(mǎn)分15分)閱讀下面短文,從每題所給的A、B、C、D四個(gè)選項(xiàng)中選出可以填入空白處的最佳選項(xiàng)。Everyone talks about how different Japan's culture is from the rest of the world but I didn't believe it. He came home only once during the Chinese New Year and stayed only three days. It was the days that we anticipated so much. On that day Mama and I would wake up early and wait for Papa at the gateway, with an anxious but light heart. We waited and waited and it was not until at dusk that I finally noticed a figure from the distance. It's Papa! He rushed over and swept me up in his arms, prickling (刺;戳) my face with his beard. “Look what I've got for you!” Papa rummaged (亂翻) in his big suitcase and took out a gift—ooh, what a pretty hat!Making sticky rice balls together was a ritual. That night, Papa buried a coin in a sticky rice ball and said, “Whoever finds the coin will have good luck.” That night I lied between Papa and Mama and fell asleep, drowsily hearing them whispering and firecrackers outside, with love and warmth enveloping me.Early the next morning, Papa fed me sticky rice balls with a spoon. Suddenly, I bit on something hard. “It's the fortune coin!” I yelled. “Quick, put it in your pocket so the good luck won't escape!” Mama helped me into a brand new jacket and we were going New Year Visiting. On the way, I met my friend Dachun who got a big red envelop from his Papa.“Well, how about this?” I took the coin out of my pocket proudly. “I have a fortune coin! My papa buried it in a sticky rice ball, and I found it!”On the second day, it snowed really hard! When it finally stopped, Dachun got me to play and we had a snowball fight till it was getting dark. On the way home, I felt inside my pocket and ... I couldn't find the coin! My fortune coin was gone!I rushed back to the courtyard and searched, but in vain. Where was my fortune coin “Don't cry, sweetie. I'll give you another one. Look, it's exactly the same!” Papa scooped another coin out of his pocket. “I don't want this one—I want the other one!” I bawled (放聲痛哭). In the evening, I crept into bed, miserable (痛苦的). A large spoon is held in the right hand, while the left hand is used to shovel food into the spoon. 28.What can be known from the first two paragraphs A.Most of the Asians live in the cities.B.Most people eat food with their hands throughout Asia.C.Rice serves as the non-staple food in most areas in Southeast.D.Southeast Asians eat more fish than other forms of animal protein. 根據(jù)第一段中的“Twice as much fish ... of Southeast Asia.(與其他形式的動(dòng)物蛋白相比,該地區(qū)的魚(yú)類(lèi)消費(fèi)量是其兩倍,這反映了東南亞漫長(zhǎng)的海岸線(xiàn)和河流環(huán)境。)” D。29.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to A.The food. “It's cigarettes all over again,” she says. 32.What does Paragraph 2 suggest A.Processed foods are tastier than natural ones.B.Beans are much healthier than processed foods.C.People can become addicted to processed foods.D.The design of processed foods takes great effort. 根據(jù)第二段中的“They're designed ... open the package (它們是由食品科學(xué)家設(shè)計(jì)的,當(dāng)你打開(kāi)包裝時(shí),它們看起來(lái)有某種特定的方式,在嘴里有某種特定的感覺(jué),聞起來(lái)會(huì)有某種特定的味道)”和第三段中的“In highly processed ... more addictive.(在高度加工的零食中,糖經(jīng)常和脂肪混在一起,這一組合會(huì)使這些食物更容易使人上癮。)” C。33.According to the 2023 study, those eating high fat, high sugar yogurts have ________.A.decreased response to healthy foods in reward systemB.increased likelihood of developing addiction to drugsC.increased difficulty in activating the brain with drugsD.decreased interest in highly processed snacks答案:A解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第三段中的“For a 2023 study ... in their reward circuits.” A。34.What is Hebebrand's attitude towards classifying sugar addictive A.Supportive. __40__. The fact that I had lost my fortune coin made me shed tears of sadness. Tears blurring my eyes, grief coming in waves, I took off my new Jacket with trembling hands and threw it onto the chair. “Ding ...” Suddenly, a ringing sound echoed in the room. It must be the fortune coin. I leapt out of my bed and sprinted to the place where the coin might be. Kneeling, I grubbed the floor inch by inch and finally found the little shiny coin. With the coin in hand, all my misery gave way to exhilaration, my face glowing with joy. That night, I slept very soundly (香甜地) and I knew Papa would leave tomorrow. I slept close to Papa and savored the last precious moment we spent together. Early next morning, I woke up and found my mom was packing for Papa. Papa squatted down and scooped me in his arms. I whispered in his ears, “Papa, I have a gift for you.” Putting the coin, which was all warm from being held in hand for so long, into my Papa's coarse hand, I looked at his eyes and said, “Next time you're back, we can bury it in the sticky rice ball again!” Papa was very quiet. He nodded and held me tight.26(共108張PPT)WELCOME UNIT第三單元檢測(cè)卷時(shí)間:120分鐘 滿(mǎn)分:150分較易題(占比50%) 中檔題(占比40%) 拔高題(占比10%)題型 聽(tīng)力 閱讀 七選五 完形 填空 語(yǔ)法 填空 應(yīng)用文 寫(xiě)作 讀后續(xù)寫(xiě)A B C D 難度 ★ ★ ★ ★★ ★★ ★ ★★ ★ ★★ ★★★第一部分第二部分第三部分第四部分目錄CONTENTS1234第一部分第一部分 聽(tīng)力(共兩節(jié),滿(mǎn)分30分)第一節(jié)(共5小題;每小題1.5分,滿(mǎn)分7.5分)聽(tīng)下面5段對(duì)話(huà)。 1.How does the man feel about the journey A.Excited. They stayed overnight in an Airbnb rental and drove the next day to where Rina's mother lived. After cooking and boxing everything up, they knocked on their customer's door.“As soon as she opened the door, she recognized the amazing smell,” Brandon says.Rina says her mother also recognized Chu and his coworkers. “My mom kept saying, ‘You drove all the way up here to cook for me?’ She was so happy and touched to have that broccoli.”“It was an honor to help make the family's wishes come true,” Chu says. “There was a lot of good positive energy in doing this.” Rina was happy that her mother was able to enjoy her beloved broccoli with a side order of excellent kindness one last time. “My mom cried later about their generosity, and so did I,” Rina says. “I'll carry that positive memory with me always.” 24.Why did Brandon send the e mail to Ekiben restaurant A.To learn how to cook the dish for his mother in law.B.To ask the owner to treat his mother in law.C.To invite the owner to cook for his mother in law.D.To enjoy the food himself. 根據(jù)第一段中的“He explained that ... to make it for her there.(他解釋說(shuō),她現(xiàn)在在佛蒙特州的家中,處于肺癌晚期,他希望能得到食譜為她在家里做這道菜。)” A。25.What do we know about Steve Chu from the passage A.He was generous to his coworkers.B.He had a strong desire for charity.C.He felt honored to deliver positive energy to the family.D.He was unwilling to share the recipe with others. 根據(jù)最后一段中的“‘It was an honor ... positive energy in doing this.’” C。26.How did Brandon's mother in law feel when she saw Chu and his coworkers A.Puzzled and amazed. As a result, the addictive nature of tobaccowas opposed for decades. Considering highly processed foods' harmful health effects, Gearhardt argues that it's better to risk misclassifying highly processed foods as addictive than to fail to label (貼標(biāo)簽) them as such. “It's cigarettes all over again,” she says. 32.What does Paragraph 2 suggest A.Processed foods are tastier than natural ones.B.Beans are much healthier than processed foods.C.People can become addicted to processed foods.D.The design of processed foods takes great effort. 根據(jù)第二段中的“They're designed ... open the package (它們是由食品科學(xué)家設(shè)計(jì)的,當(dāng)你打開(kāi)包裝時(shí),它們看起來(lái)有某種特定的方式,在嘴里有某種特定的感覺(jué),聞起來(lái)會(huì)有某種特定的味道)”和第三段中的“In highly processed ... more addictive.(在高度加工的零食中,糖經(jīng)常和脂肪混在一起,這一組合會(huì)使這些食物更容易使人上癮。)” C。33.According to the 2023 study, those eating high fat, high sugar yogurts have ________.A.decreased response to healthy foods in reward systemB.increased likelihood of developing addiction to drugsC.increased difficulty in activating the brain with drugsD.decreased interest in highly processed snacks解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第三段中的“For a 2023 study ... in their reward circuits.” A。34.What is Hebebrand's attitude towards classifying sugar addictive A.Supportive. In Morocco, if preserved correctly, Khlea, a dish, is still good for two years whenstored at room temperature. __40__. When I first visited a relative's house, I fell in love with the delicious steamed fish. It is a fresh whole fish steamed to a tender texture and then drizzled in a light soy sauce along with aromatics like scallions and ginger, which is suitable for both the young and the old. No matter what fish you use, make sure it's as fresh as possible. The freshness of the fish contributes the most to the success of it.I would like to extend my sincere welcome to you to pay a visit to China, during which I will show you around. We'll try this delicious dish and other famous local cuisines.Looking forward to hearing from you. Papa built big houses in faraway places. In the evening, I crept into bed, miserable (痛苦的).﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍That night, I slept very soundly (香甜地) and I knew Papa would leave tomorrow. 爸爸短暫的春節(jié)假期也要結(jié)束了,作者又會(huì)做些什么呢?[精彩范文]In the evening, I crept into bed, miserable (痛苦的). He nodded and held me tight.
