trends on TikTok, but which ones are actually sensible And should you skip any of them altogether We asked registered dietitian Vanessa Rissetto, and here's what you need to know.Emily Mariko's Salmon BowlMade with rice, baked salmon, soy sauce and spicy mayo—and to be clear, there are a lot of different variations of it online—this passes Rissetto's test because it's healthy, fast, easy and has good flavor.Rissetto says that while she would recommend this recipe, she would also suggest changing the white rice for brown rice for increased nutrients and more fiber. Healthy Cookie DoughCookie dough that's healthy This is too good to be true, right The answer is probably yes. Rissetto says that while this may be healthy, it probably doesn't taste good.“I'm certain this tastes like cardboard,” she said. “If you don't care about taste—then this is for you.”Lettuce Water For SleepWhile harmless, the TikTok trend of pouring boiling water over romaine lettuce leaves to make “lettuce water” for better sleep probably won't cure your sleep disorder—and it probably doesn't taste great, either.“This is not a thing. There's no evidence to prove it,” Rissetto said. “Instead, steep a banana peel in boiling water to help aid with sleep.” Nature's CerealAs Rissetto points out, it's basically a fruit smoothie bowl. “I am all for having berries and coconut water,” she said. “Nutrition wise, this has lots of vitamins, antioxidants and fiber. It's basically a fruit salad that would be super refreshing on a hot day or post workout.” 1.What is special about Emily Mariko's salmon bowl A.It doesn't taste great.B.It is good for health.C.Its recipe is not fixed.D.It uses two kinds of rice. 根據Emily Mariko's Salmon Bowl部分中的“Made with rice ... variations of it online (用米飯、烤鮭魚、醬油和辣味蛋黃醬制作而成——需要澄清的是,網上有很多不同的版本)”可知,Emily Mariko's Salmon Bowl這道菜沒有固定食譜。故選C。2.Which recipe doesn't Rissetto recommend A.Emily Mariko's salmon bowl.B.Healthy cookie dough.C.Lettuce water for sleep.D.Nature's cereal. C。3.Which food suits you best after playing a football match A.Emily Mariko's salmon bowl.B.Healthy cookie dough.C.Lettuce water for sleep.D.Nature's cereal. B(2024·安徽省蚌埠市高二下月考)While teenagers who are at risk of depression with risky behaviors—drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and cutting classes often alert parents and teachers that serious problems are brewing, a new study finds that there's another group of adolescents who are in nearly as much danger of experiencing the same mental symptoms. These teens use tons of media, get insufficient sleep and have a sedentary (不愛活動的) lifestyle. Of course, that may sound like a description of every teenager on the planet. But the study warns that it is teenagers who engage in all three of these practices in the extreme that are truly in a dangerous position. Because their behaviors are not usually seen as a red flag, these young people have been called the “invisible risk” group by the study's authors. The study's authors surveyed 15,395 students and analyzed nine risk behaviors, including excessive alcohol use, illegal drug use, heavy smoking and high media use. Their aim was to determine the relationship between these risk behaviors and mental health issues in teenagers. The group that scored high on all nine of the risk behaviors was most likely to show symptoms of depression; in all, nearly 15% of this group reported being depressed, compared with just 4% of the low risk group. But the invisible group wasn't far behind the high risk set, with more than 13% of them exhibiting depression. The findings caught Carli off guard. “We didn't expect that,” he says. “The high risk group and low risk group are obvious, but this third group was not only unexpected. It was so distinct and so large—nearly one third of our sample—that it became a key finding of the study.”Carli says that one of the most significant things about his study is that it provides new early warning signs for parents, teachers and mental health care providers. And early identification, support and treatment for mental health issues, he says, are the best ways to keep them from turning into full blown disorders. 4.Which teenager probably belongs to the “invisible risk” group A.A teenager who skips school.B.A teenager who drinks frequently.C.A teenager who exercises regularly.D.A teenager who suffers from lack of sleep. 根據第二段“These teens use tons of media ... the study's authors.” D。5.What can we know about the new study A.It was intended to dig into the reasons for depression.B.Its findings were under expectation of the research team.C.It was conducted by analyzing and comparing the previous data.D.It revealed an alarming rate of the invisible group suffering depression. B.Concerned.C.Doubtful. D.Indifferent.答案:B解析:推理判斷題。根據倒數第二段“The findings ... finding of the study.(這些發現讓Carli (卡利)措手不及。‘我們沒想到,’他說。‘高風險組和低風險組是顯而易見的,但第三組出乎意料。它是如此獨特,如此龐大——幾乎占我們樣本的三分之一——以至于它成為了這項研究的一個關鍵發現。’)”可推知,Carli對這些發現表示很擔心。故選B。7.What is the author's intention of writing this passage A.To caution teens against developing unhealthy habit.B.To share a novel psychological experiment with teens.C.To introduce a new treatment for teens' mental disorder.D.To warn about the unobserved signs for teens' mental problems.答案:D解析:推理判斷題。通讀全文,尤其是根據第二段中的“Because their behaviors ... the study's authors.”可推知,作者寫這篇文章是為了警告青少年心理問題未被注意到的信號。故選D。Ⅱ 應用文寫作(2024·廣東省廣州市培英中學高二下月考)請你寫一篇短文向校英文報“Sports and Health”欄目投稿,向同學們推薦一項適合課間開展的運動。內容包括:1.介紹這項運動;2.說明推薦理由。注意:1.寫作詞數應為80個左右;2.可以適當增加細節,以使行文連貫。Stand Up and Exercise, Everybody! In spite of being raised by her mother alone, Kelsey received a good education, and now held a leading position in a large company.Recently the company was making corporate brochures (企業手冊) in which achievers would share their success and thank their parents as well. For this, the achievers would have to take photos of themselves with their parents.Kelsey didn't really want that because her mother had put on a lot of weight due to a sedentary (久坐的) lifestyle. Kelsey managed to contact one of the best photographers and made a reservation in advance. When she and her mother came to the photographer's studio, Kelsey took the man aside and said, “Please make sure my mom looks thinner in the photo.” But the photographer said what her mother really needed was a diet or exercise, not a photographer.Kelsey insisted that he shouldn't make her mother look like a slim dancer. She just expected him to do his best to make her mother look a bit thinner. The photographer finally agreed and took measures to hide some details, setting the right light and choosing better angles for shots. But it was not easy to fool the camera.Kelsey's mother noticed the photographer was having a hard time and that her daughter was shaking her head. She smiled and said that she just wanted photos with Kelsey no matter whether she looked heavy or not.The next day, Kelsey came to pick up the photos with her mother. The story is not merely about what we consume, but also about when we do so.The debate about dinner timing finds substantial, scientific support with a Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) study, suggesting that early dinners could have much health benefits. And it defined an early dinner as a meal consumed three to four hours before bedtime in line with our body's circadian rhythm (生理節奏).The BWH study discovered clear differences in metabolic (新陳代謝的) profiles of early and late diners. Early dinners demonstrated lower blood glucose (葡萄糖) levels, improved fat burning capacity, better sleep quality, and higher energy levels. Meanwhile, late dinners led to increased hunger, slower calorie burning, and higher fat storage, posing risks for conditions like diabetes (糖尿病).The exact timing of dinner isn't a one size fits all choice, as people's routines vary widely. Maya Feller, a nutritionist based in Brooklyn, NY, emphasizes that your schedules—ranging from traditional nine to five to round the clock—are critical when considering “ideal” meal times. Therefore, finding a dinner time that fits into your schedule is essential. Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, offers insightful tips for those whose routines may not permit an early dinner. She recommends consuming meals or snacks every three to five hours. This regular eating pattern can help stabilize blood sugar levels, preventing the feeling of hunger. Furthermore, it's advantageous to leave a gap of two to three hours between your last meal and bedtime. This gap ensures your body has sufficient time for most of the digestion process letting—you get adequate rest and repair during sleep. So it's time to reconsider not just the contents of your plate, but also the clock. After all leading a healthy lifestyle isn't merely about counting calories but also understanding when and how to fuel our bodies.篇章導讀:本文是一篇說明文。文章主要介紹了吃晚餐的時間對健康的影響,并提供了合理安排晚餐時間的建議,幫助讀者改善健康。1.What did the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) study mainly focus on A.The recommended daily diet.B.Our body's circadian rhythm.C.The drawbacks of early dinners.D.The importance of dinner timing.答案:D解析:細節理解題。根據第二段中的“The debate about ... much health benefits.(布萊根婦女醫院(BWH)的一項研究表明,關于晚餐時間的爭論得到了充分的科學支持,該研究表明,早吃晚餐可能對健康有很多好處。)”可知,布萊根婦女醫院的研究和晚餐時間的重要性有關。故選D。2.What may be the result of having an early dinner A.Enjoying a sound night's sleep.B.Having a strong sense of hunger.C.Storing up more fat in your body.D.Having a higher risk of diabetes.答案:A解析:細節理解題。根據第三段中的“Early dinners demonstrated ... higher energy levels.”可知,晚餐吃得早的人睡眠質量更好。故選A。3.What advice does Wendy Bazilian give to the late diners A.They're supposed to grab some food every 6 hours.B.They should allow for digestion process before bedtime.C.They'd better have access to adequate sleep.D.They are advised to keep their blood sugar level stable.答案:B解析:細節理解題。根據第五段中的“Furthermore, it's advantageous ... during sleep.”可知,Wendy Bazilian (溫迪·巴茲利安)建議晚飯吃得晚的人在睡覺之前要留出足夠的時間進行消化。故選B。4.What is the purpose of the passage A.To show the benefits of good dietary habits.B.To share the fact that we are what we eat.C.To tell people the healthiest time to eat dinner.D.To show the importance of eating less in the evening.答案:C解析:推理判斷題。通讀全文,尤其根據第一段中的“Recent research highlights ... affect our health.(最近的研究強調,一天的最后一餐對我們的健康有很大的影響。)”可推知,本文的寫作目的是告訴人們吃晚餐的最佳時間。故選C。B(2024·廣西示范性高中高二下調研測試)For night owls like Chen Danhong, 28, who works for a technology company in Beijing, the day really just begins after about 8 pm, a psychological hint that she can relax. “When I get home, I'm feeling worn out and tired, but that suddenly turns to excitement and I go on the Internet, read novels or watch movies. Common symptoms (癥狀) include falling asleep later than 2 am, with the average time taken to fall asleep being more than one hour. Young people in cities are most vulnerable to such symptoms, according to the 2020 Chinese National Healthy Sleep White mon causes are loneliness, overtime sequelae (后遺癥), excessive stress and emotional disorders. On March 21, World Sleep Day, a newspaper, Nanguo Morning News, conducted a survey that attracted 2,000 interviewees. According to the survey, the reasons for going to bed late vary widely, with overtime work or taking care of a baby accounting for just five percent of the interviewees' answers on this question. Sixty four percent said they sleep late because they watch dramas, various shows, read books or play with their mobile phones. Fourteen percent said they do not want to go to bed too early even if they have nothing to do. Many interviewees said they have had experience of the dangers of going to be late. Twenty three percent said they have no serious physiological problems, but they can feel weak, are easily fatigued and have a poor complexion. Twenty one percent said they are forgetful and find it hard to concentrate on work. More worrying is that an unwillingness to sleep can lead to a vicious circle (惡性循環), and 15 percent of the respondents said they cannot fall asleep even if they want to.篇章導讀:本文是一篇說明文。文章主要以夜貓子陳丹紅為例引出了年輕人熬夜這一現象,并分析了原因及其帶來的結果。5.Why does the author mention Chen Danhong's situation in the first paragraph A.To lead in the topic.B.To present an argument.C.To shock the reader.D.To raise a question.答案:A解析:推理判斷題。根據第一段中的“For night owls like Chen Danhong, 28 ... psychological hint that she can relax. of them altogether We asked registered dietitian Vanessa Rissetto, and here's what you need to know.Emily Mariko's Salmon BowlMade with rice, baked salmon, soy sauce and spicy mayo—and to be clear, there are a lot of different variations of it online—this passes Rissetto's test because it's healthy, fast, easy and has good flavor.Rissetto says that while she would recommend this recipe, she would also suggest changing the white rice for brown rice for increased nutrients and more fiber.Healthy Cookie DoughCookie dough that’s healthy This is too good to be true, right The answer is probably yes.Rissetto says that while this may be healthy, it probably doesn't taste good.“I'm certain this tastes like cardboard,” she said. “If you don't care about taste—then this is for you.”Lettuce Water For SleepWhile harmless, the TikTok trend of pouring boiling water over romaine lettuce leaves to make “lettuce water” for better sleep probably won’t cure your sleep disorder—and it probably doesn’t taste great, either.“This is not a thing. There's no evidence to prove it,” Rissetto said. “Instead, steep a banana peel in boiling water to help aid with sleep.”Nature’s CerealAs Rissetto points out, it’s basically a fruit smoothie bowl.“I am all for having berries and coconut water,” she said. “Nutrition wise, this has lots of vitamins, antioxidants and fiber. It's basically a fruit salad that would be super refreshing on a hot day or post workout.”篇章導讀:本文是一篇說明文。文章主要討論了抖音上幾種流行的健康食品是否真的健康。篇章導讀1.What is special about Emily Mariko's salmon bowl A.It doesn't taste great.B.It is good for health.C.Its recipe is not fixed.D.It uses two kinds of rice.解析:細節理解題。根據Emily Mariko's Salmon Bowl部分中的“Made with rice ... variations of it online (用米飯、烤鮭魚、醬油和辣味蛋黃醬制作而成——需要澄清的是,網上有很多不同的版本)”可知,Emily Mariko's Salmon Bowl這道菜沒有固定食譜。故選C。答案解析2.Which recipe doesn't Rissetto recommend A.Emily Mariko's salmon bowl.B.Healthy cookie dough.C.Lettuce water for sleep.D.Nature's cereal.解析:細節理解題。根據Lettuce Water For Sleep部分中的“While harmless ... doesn't taste great, either.(雖然無害,但TikTok上流行的將沸水倒在長葉萵苣葉子上制成‘生菜水’以改善睡眠的趨勢可能并不能治愈你的睡眠障礙,而且它的味道可能也不怎么樣。)”可知,Rissetto (里塞托)可能不推薦用于改善睡眠的萵苣水。故選C。答案解析3.Which food suits you best after playing a football match A.Emily Mariko's salmon bowl.B.Healthy cookie dough.C.Lettuce water for sleep.D.Nature's cereal.解析:推理判斷題。根據Nature's Cereal部分中的“It's basically ... or post workout.(它基本上是一種水果沙拉,在大熱天或鍛煉后吃起來會非常清爽。)”可推知,Nature's Cereal這道菜適合在足球比賽后吃。故選D。答案解析B(2024·安徽省蚌埠市高二下月考)While teenagers who are at risk of depression with risky behaviors—drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and cutting classes often alert parents and teachers that serious problems are brewing, a new study finds that there's another group of adolescents who are in nearly as much danger of experiencing the same mental symptoms. `篇章導讀:本文是一篇說明文。青少年大量使用媒體,睡眠不足,久坐不動正被視為“隱形風險”。這些風險很可能導致青少年的心理健康問題。篇章導讀4.Which teenager probably belongs to the “invisible risk” group A.A teenager who skips school.B.A teenager who drinks frequently.C.A teenager who exercises regularly.D.A teenager who suffers from lack of sleep.解析:細節理解題。根據第二段“These teens use tons of media ... the study's authors.”可知,一個睡眠不足的青少年可能屬于“隱形風險”群體。故選D。答案解析5.What can we know about the new study A.It was intended to dig into the reasons for depression.B.Its findings were under expectation of the research team.C.It was conducted by analyzing and comparing the previous data.D.It revealed an alarming rate of the invisible group suffering depression.解析:推理判斷題。根據第三段中的“The group ... exhibiting depression. She just expected him to do his best to make her mother look a bit thinner. The photographer finally agreed and took measures to hide some details, setting the right light and choosing better angles for shots. She smiled and said that she just wanted photos with Kelsey no matter whether she looked heavy or not.The next day, Kelsey came to pick up the photos with her mother. The photographer printed out several photos, copied the rest on a flash drive and handed them to Kelsey. Kelsey was disappointed and complained. How she wished her mother could look much thinner! The story is not merely about what we consume, but also about when we do so.The debate about dinner timing finds substantial, scientific support with a Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) study, suggesting that early dinners could have much health benefits. And it defined an early dinner as a meal consumed three to four hours before bedtime in line with our body’s circadian rhythm (生理節奏).The BWH study discovered clear differences in metabolic (新陳代謝的) profiles of early and late diners. Therefore, finding a dinner time that fits into your schedule is essential.Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, offers insightful tips for those whose routines may not permit an early dinner. She recommends consuming meals or snacks every three to five hours. This regular eating pattern can help stabilize blood sugar levels, preventing the feeling of hunger. Furthermore, it’s advantageous to leave a gap of two to three hours between your last meal and bedtime. This gap ensures your body has sufficient time for most of the digestion process letting—you get adequate rest and repair during sleep. So it's time to reconsider not just the contents of your plate, but also the clock. After all leading a healthy lifestyle isn't merely about counting calories but also understanding when and how to fuel our bodies.篇章導讀:本文是一篇說明文。文章主要介紹了吃晚餐的時間對健康的影響,并提供了合理安排晚餐時間的建議,幫助讀者改善健康。篇章導讀1.What did the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) study mainly focus on A.The recommended daily diet.B.Our body's circadian rhythm.C.The drawbacks of early dinners.D.The importance of dinner timing.解析:細節理解題。根據第二段中的“The debate about ... much health benefits.(布萊根婦女醫院(BWH)的一項研究表明,關于晚餐時間的爭論得到了充分的科學支持,該研究表明,早吃晚餐可能對健康有很多好處。)”可知,布萊根婦女醫院的研究和晚餐時間的重要性有關。故選D。答案解析2.What may be the result of having an early dinner A.Enjoying a sound night's sleep.B.Having a strong sense of hunger.C.Storing up more fat in your body.D.Having a higher risk of diabetes.解析:細節理解題。根據第三段中的“Early dinners demonstrated ... higher energy levels.”可知,晚餐吃得早的人睡眠質量更好。故選A。答案解析3.What advice does Wendy Bazilian give to the late diners A.They're supposed to grab some food every 6 hours.B.They should allow for digestion process before bedtime.C.They'd better have access to adequate sleep.D.They are advised to keep their blood sugar level stable.解析:細節理解題。根據第五段中的“Furthermore, it's advantageous ... during sleep.”可知,Wendy Bazilian (溫迪·巴茲利安)建議晚飯吃得晚的人在睡覺之前要留出足夠的時間進行消化。故選B。答案解析4.What is the purpose of the passage A.To show the benefits of good dietary habits.B.To share the fact that we are what we eat.C.To tell people the healthiest time to eat dinner.D.To show the importance of eating less in the evening.解析:推理判斷題。通讀全文,尤其根據第一段中的“Recent research highlights ... affect our health.(最近的研究強調,一天的最后一餐對我們的健康有很大的影響。)”可推知,本文的寫作目的是告訴人們吃晚餐的最佳時間。故選C。答案解析B(2024·廣西示范性高中高二下調研測試)For night owls like Chen Danhong, 28, who works for a technology company in Beijing, the day really just begins after about 8 pm, a psychological hint that she can relax. “When I get home, I'm feeling worn out and tired, but that suddenly turns to excitement and I go on the Internet, read novels or watch movies.
