1. 表示能力(Ability)
意為“能,會”,指現在具備的能力。
e.g. I can swim. 我會游泳。
Anna can speak Chinese. 安娜會說中文。
Can 的用法
2. 表示委婉的請求別人做某事(Request)
用于非正式場合,向對方提出請求。
e.g. Can you help me pick up my book 你能幫我撿起我的書嗎?
Can you lend me your pen 你能把你的鋼筆借給我嗎?
can 表示邀請時常用一般疑問句句式
結構為: Can+ 主語+ 動詞原形+ 其他?對于用情態動詞can發出的邀請,回答時主要有兩種情況:

接受 Sure/Yes, I’d love (like) to. 當然,我愿意。
Sure/Of course. 當然。
拒絕 Sorry, I’m not available. 對不起,我沒空。

3. 表示許可(Permission)
用于詢問或給予許可(較隨意)。
e.g. Can I go to the bathroom 我可以去洗手間嗎?

4. 表示可能性(Possibility)
指某事可能發生或存在。
e.g. It can be very cold in winter. 冬天可能會很冷。
Bob can be late sometimes.
鮑勃有時可能會遲到。
5. 表示推測,意為“可能”
常用語否定句和疑問句中
e.g. Mary can’t be at home because she has gone to Beijing.
瑪麗不可能在家,因為她去北京了。
This can’t be true.

Could 的用法
1. 表示過去的能力(Past Ability)
指過去能做某事(相當于 was/were able to)。
e.g. When I was young, I ________ run very fast.
