But as the deadline neared, I still needed a powerful and hopeful image. When we began our reporting in 2017—Sharon, writing; me taking photos; and our son, NickRuggia, filming—more tigers likely lived in cages in the US than remained in the wild. The number ranged from 5,000 to 10,000, but without strict government oversight, no one knew for sure.Roadside zoos that allowed tourists to take pictures of young tigers were the main cause of what's been called a US tiger crisis (危機). Caged cats often ended up in the illegal wildlife trade. Young tigers, parted from their mothers at birth, were fed poorly and touched by hundreds of people. When they grew too big and dangerous to pet at around 12 weeks, young tigers were put on show, or simply disappeared. While we documented the unpleasant part of this industry, we also wanted to show the good life these impressive animals could have. With two weeks left before my deadline, I headed to the Wild Animal Sanctuary near Denver, where well cared cats walked freely in their habitat. There I met Clay, Daniel, and Enzo, three of 39 tigers rescued from an animal park in Oklahoma. These nearly grown cats raced beside our car, which I'd seen only in the wild. It was a hot July day and soon two of the cats jumped into a pool to cool off. The third rested beside them on the ground. I crossed the road to take a picture of them. Then quietly, I came up close, trying not to disturb (打擾) them. I had the shot. 1.Why did the author start her reporting?( )A.To dig out the dark truth of caged tigers.B.To explore the amazing land in the country.C.To tell people that baby tigers are harmless.D.To share the happy moment during the trip. A。2.What is the main cause of the US tiger crisis according to the text?( )A.Forest fires. B.Climate change.C.Roadside zoos. D.Water pollution. C。3.What can we learn about these young tigers from Paragraph 3?( )A.They prefer to stay indoors.B.They are badly treated.C.They get used to the changes.D.They are traded legally. B。4.What is the author's purpose in mentioning the Wild Animal Sanctuary?( )A.To praise her family for their effort.B.To explain what the animals suffered.C.To introduce a special kind of tigers.D.To show some tigers lead an easy life. B(2024·黑龍江省龍東地區五校聯考高一上期末)Beijing No. 4 Intermediate People's Court said on Thursday that it concluded 77 cases of smuggling (走私) precious animal products from the beginning of 2015 to June this year, with about 40 percent of defendants (被告) given prison terms of three or more years. The products were found to be frequently made of body parts of some endangered wild animals such as elephants, turtles, bears and wolves, Wang Jing, vice president of the court, told a news conference.“Most of the defendants were migrant workers, students and tourists coming back to China,” Wang said. “Some aimed to sell the products for profits or send to friends and family members as gifts, while they wanted to use them to help with diseases.”Wang explained that some of the defendants received heavier penalties (懲罰), such as a long term imprisonment and a high fine, because the animal parts they smuggled were from animals listed on the national key protection of wildlife or related to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). For example, a defendant surnamed Yan was sentenced to 10 years in prison, along with 200,000 yuan ($27,968) in fines, for smuggling 393 fish bladder products, the court said. Yan was caught while arriving at the Beijing Capital International Airport from Mexico on March 21, 2018, and the suspected products were discovered by the customs staff members in Yan's luggage. The products were later identified as being made of drum fish in Gulf of California, and the fish is listed on the CITES, the court said, adding that the products were worth of about 2.51 million yuan ($351,000).To effectively fight the crime, the court has issued a guideline on the smuggling of precious animal products to help judges accurately apply laws and unify (統一) the standards of relevant case hearings. On Thursday, the court also disclosed four other smuggling cases, showing its determination and effort to protect precious animals by rule of law. 5.What does Wang Jing mainly express in Paragraph 2?( )A.The diseases that the animal products can be used to cure people of.B.The way the defendants managed to get the animal products abroad.C.The reasons why the defendants brought the animal products from abroad.D.The people who the defendants were supposed to sell the animal products to. C。6.What can be learned about the defendant surnamed Yan from Paragraph 3?( )A.Yan was sentenced to one decade in prison without any fines.B.Yan was caught when trying to make a deal with someone.C.Yan's products were made of a kind of endangered fish.D.Yan was a migrant worker, who came from Europe. C。7.Which can replace the underlined word “disclosed” in the last paragraph?( )A.Had some doubts about.B.Felt a little upset about.C.Tried to hide the truth about.D.Gave people information about. 根據最后一段“On Thursday ... by rule of law.” D。8.What can be a suitable title for the news report?( )A.Beijing court handles 77 cases of smuggling animal productsB.Beijing court makes an effort to recognize wild animals productsC.Beijing court helps judges apply laws about smuggling animal productsD.Beijing court issues guideline on smuggling of precious animal products答案:A解析:標題判斷題。通讀全文,尤其是根據第一段第一句“Beijing No. 4 Intermediate People's Court ... three or more years.” 故選A。 [精彩范文]As is known to all, many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction because of human activities. From my point of view, our government should take measures to protect wild animals. But as the deadline neared, I still needed a powerful and hopeful image.題號 Ⅰ ⅡA B 難度 ★ ★★★ ★★When we began our reporting in 2017—Sharon, writing; me taking photos; and our son, NickRuggia, filming—more tigers likely lived in cages in the US than remained in the wild. I had the shot.1.Why did the author start her reporting?( )A.To dig out the dark truth of caged tigers.B.To explore the amazing land in the country.C.To tell people that baby tigers are harmless.D.To share the happy moment during the trip. 故選A。 2.What is the main cause of the US tiger crisis according to the text?( )A.Forest fires. B.Climate change.C.Roadside zoos. D.Water pollution. 3.What can we learn about these young tigers from Paragraph 3?( )A.They prefer to stay indoors.B.They are badly treated.C.They get used to the changes.D.They are traded legally. 4.What is the author's purpose in mentioning the Wild Animal Sanctuary?( )A.To praise her family for their effort.B.To explain what the animals suffered.C.To introduce a special kind of tigers.D.To show some tigers lead an easy life. 答案解析B(2024·黑龍江省龍東地區五校聯考高一上期末)Beijing No. The products were later identified as being made of drum fish in Gulf of California, and the fish is listed on the CITES, the court said, adding that the products were worth of about 2.51 million yuan ($351,000). To effectively fight the crime, the court has issued a guideline on the smuggling of precious animal products to help judges accurately apply laws and unify (統一) the standards of relevant case hearings. On Thursday, the court also disclosed four other smuggling cases, showing its determination and effort to protect precious animals by rule of law.5.What does Wang Jing mainly express in Paragraph 2?( )A.The diseases that the animal products can be used to cure people of.B.The way the defendants managed to get the animal products abroad.C.The reasons why the defendants brought the animal products from abroad.D.The people who the defendants were supposed to sell the animal products to. 6.What can be learned about the defendant surnamed Yan from Paragraph 3?( )A.Yan was sentenced to one decade in prison without any fines.B.Yan was caught when trying to make a deal with someone.C.Yan's products were made of a kind of endangered fish.D.Yan was a migrant worker, who came from Europe. 7.Which can replace the underlined word “disclosed” in the last paragraph?( )A.Had some doubts about.B.Felt a little upset about.C.Tried to hide the truth about.D.Gave people information about. 根據最后一段“On Thursday ... by rule of law.” 8.What can be a suitable title for the news report?( )A.Beijing court handles 77 cases of smuggling animal productsB.Beijing court makes an effort to recognize wild animals productsC.Beijing court helps judges apply laws about smuggling animal productsD.Beijing court issues guideline on smuggling of precious animal products解析:標題判斷題。通讀全文,尤其是根據第一段第一句“Beijing No. 4 Intermediate People's Court ... three or more years.” 故選A。 ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍[精彩范文]As is known to all, many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction because of human activities. From my point of view, our government should take measures to protect wild animals.
