Homes and workplaces needed a safer, brighter, and more reliable light source.Thomas Edison found the answer by creating a long-lasting electric light bulb. Unlike previous attempts, his design used a carbonized bamboo filament inside a vacuum glass bulb, allowing it to glow for hours without burning out.Edison, a curious and determined American inventor, spent years experimenting with different materials. He tested over 6,000 substances before discovering the perfect filament. His persistence revolutionized modern lighting. The bulb was made of a glass enclosure, a carbon filament, and metal wires. By combining these with electricity, Edison produced steady, bright light. When electric current passes through the filament, it heats up and emits light. The vacuum inside the bulb prevents oxidation, making the bulb last longer.Reflection1After completing this unit, I understand more about great inventions. What leads to inventions Inventions come from problems to be solved.Inventions come from ________.Inventions come from ________.curiosityinventors with good qualitiesTo express my understanding, I can … use words and expressions in the unit to talk about inventions: use to-infinitive and -ing as object to talk about invention ideas. explain the importance of invention.*1=excellent, 2=good, 3=not yetI still need to improve: _______________________23Homework Make a display board about an invention.
