潑水節，又稱為宋干節，是中國傣族、阿昌族、布朗族、佤族、德昂族等少數民族和中南半島某些民族的新年節日。為傣族一年中最盛大的傳統節日。中國傣族節期在傣歷六七月（清明節后十日左右），各民族過潑水節的時間會相差一兩天，不過都在公歷4月8日至22日之間。節日期間，人們相互潑水祝福，并舉行拜佛、賽龍舟、放高升、點孔明燈等活動。新中國成立后，增加了游行、文藝匯演、電影晚會、展覽和物資交流等新內容。泰國、緬甸、老撾等國都在每年公歷4月中旬歡度此節。

由于if和whether連接的句子在語義上是一般疑問句或選擇疑問句，因此要注意把從句語序改為陳述句語序。

如果or not放在whether所引導的從句句尾，可用if 替換。

注意whether和if的使用區別
a.當whether后緊跟or not時，不用if.
b.介詞后面的賓語從句不能用if.
I worry about whether I hurt her feelings.
He asked me whether I wanted to go there by train or by bus.
c.在強調任意選擇時，用whether…or，此時不用 if 替換whether。
Whether he will come I am not sure.
注意whether和if的使用區別
d. 雖引導賓語從句，但為了強調賓語部分，也可把從句放在句首，此時只用whether不用if。
e.句子中有if 引導的條件句，如再有表示“是否”的賓語從句，用whether不用if。
He asked me whether I’d move to New York if I got the job.
f. 如果賓語從句為否定句時，則只用if不用 whether。
I don’t know if it won't rain tomorrow.
