Danny: Hi, Li Ming. I am working on a project about festivals and holidays around the world. I'm going to write about Chinese festivals and holidays. I think I know quite a few!
Li Ming: Really? What Chinese festivals do you know?
Danny: I know about the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the Double Ninth Festival.
Li Ming: Good for you. You really did your research! Those are traditional Chinese festivals. Which festival do you like best?
Danny: I like the Spring Festival best. I love eating dumplings. And I like the fireworks.
Li Ming: That's a popular choice! I like to have fun with my family and friends during the Festival. Do you know other festivals or holidays?
Danny: Hmm... I'm not sure.
Li Ming: Let me help you out. We have Labour Day, National Day... Oh, by the way, next week is National Day. I will have a seven-day holiday starting from October 1. I plan to go to Tian'anmen Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony.
Danny: That sounds like a fantastic plan!

2. I think I know quite a few!
(1) “quite adv. 相當”，表示程度，比a little強，比very弱
e.g. The movie is quite interesting. 這部電影相當有趣。
(2) “a few 少許，幾個”，肯定含義，數量雖少但存在
“few 幾乎沒有”，否定含義，強調數量極少或不足
e.g. She has a few friends at school. 她在學校有幾個朋友。
He has few books. 他幾乎沒什么書。
(3) “quite a few 相當多”，修飾可數名詞復數
e.g. There are quite a few students in the library.
圖書館里有相當多的學生。

double ① adj. 成雙的
e.g. Through the double doors,turn right. 穿過雙開門，右轉。
② adj. 兩倍的
e.g. My workmate is off today, so I have to do double work.

③ adj. 供兩者使用的；雙人的
e.g. Can I book a double room for next week?

④ double v. 加倍
e.g. The price of rice doubled this year. 今年米的價格翻了一倍。
4. You really did your research!
research 作不可數名詞，意為“研究；調查”。
(1) research on/into sth. 對某一具體主題或領域的研究
(2) scientific/medical/academic research 科學/醫療/學術研究
(3) do research（做）研究
(4) carry out research 開展研究
e.g. There is a lot of research on/into how languages are learnt.
有很多關于語言學習的研究。
Scientists do research to find new ways to help people.
科學家們進行研究，以尋找幫助人們的新方法。
research 既可作及物動詞也可作不及物動詞，意為“研究；調查”。
e.g. The students are researching how plants grow.
學生們正在研究植物是如何生長的。
She always researched carefully when she wrote.
她寫作時總是仔細研究。
researcher n. 研究員；科研工作者
e.g. He chose to join the company as a market researcher.
他選擇加入這家公司當一名市場研究員。
5. Which festival do you like best?
(1) like ... best表示 "最喜歡……"，相當于favourite和相當于like... the most，用于表達對事物（人、物品、活動等）的偏好。 like 是動詞，意為 "喜歡"；best 是副詞，表示 "最"，修飾動詞 like。
e.g. My favourite colour is blue.
=I like blue best. 我最喜歡藍色。
(2) 這是一個常見的英語特殊疑問句，用于詢問對方最喜歡的節日。其同義句為What is your favourite festival? 你最喜歡哪個節日？

help sb. out 幫助某人解決問題
e.g. She helped me out when I was in financial trouble.
當我陷入財務困難時，她幫助我解決了問題。
7. We have Labour Day, National Day...
national 是nation（n. 國家）+ -al（形容詞后綴）構成的形容詞，意為“國家的，民族的”，在句中常用作定語。
類似結構詞：
traditional adj. 傳統的 central adj. 中心的
natural adj. 自然的 international adj. 國際的
8. Oh, by the way, next week is National Day.
by the way 意為“順便說一下”或“順便問一句”，用于在談話中插入一個與前面話題稍微有些不同但又相關的新信息，或者用于轉換話題。通常放在句子的開頭或中間，后面接一個逗號，再跟上要說的話。
e.g. By the way, I love your new hairstyle!
順便說一句，我喜歡你的新發型！
含way 的介詞短語：(1) on the way 在途中
on the/one's way(to...) 在（去……的）路上
(2) in a way 在某種程度上 (3) in this way 用這種方法
(4) in the way 妨礙；擋道 (5) all the way 一路上;自始至終
9. I will have a seven-day holiday starting from October 1.
(1) 長難句分析：這是一個簡單句。主語為I, 謂語是will have, 賓語是a seven-day holiday, starting from October 1 作后置定語。a seven-day holiday的同義表達是a holiday for seven days。
(2) seven-day adj. 七天的
復合形容詞： 基數詞-名詞（單數）
e.g. six-month 六個月的 fifteen-minute 十五分鐘的
(1) to watch the flag-raising ceremony為不定式表目的。
10. I plan to go to Tian'anmen Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony.
(2) flag-raising adj. 升旗的
復合形容詞： 名詞-現在分詞
e.g. time-saving 節省時間的 record-breaking 打破紀錄的
其他復合形容詞：

e.g. long-term 長期的 high-speed 高速的

11. That sounds like a fantastic plan!
“sound like 聽起來像是”，是用來描述聽覺印象的短語，其后可以接名詞、代詞或動名詞等作為賓語。
e.g. That song sounds like a happy melody.
那首歌聽起來像是一首歡快的旋律。
The footsteps outside my window sound like they’re getting closer.
我窗外傳來的腳步聲聽起來越來越近了。
The wind through the trees sounds like it’s whispering.
風吹過樹林的聲音聽起來像是在竊竊私語。
結構類似但描述不同感官印象的短語還有：
（1）look like 看起來像（描述視覺印象）
（2）smell like 聞起來像（描述嗅覺印象）
（3）taste like 嘗起來像（描述味覺印象）
（4）feel like 感覺像（描述觸覺或心理感受）
（5）seem like 貌似（表示某種可能性或印象）
e.g. The cloud looks like a dragon. 那片云看起來像一條龍。
The cake smells like vanilla. 這個蛋糕聞起來像香草。
The soup tastes like chicken. 這個湯嘗起來像雞肉。
I feel like going for a walk. 我想要去散步。
It seems like it’s going to rain. 好像要下雨了。
