1. 用于提出要求或請求
“Can/Could you please... ”意為“請你……好嗎?”或“你能/可以……嗎?”,用于提出要求或請求。常用答語有:
肯定回答 Yes, sure./Of course. 好的,當然可以。
No problem. 沒問題。
With pleasure. 樂意幫忙。
Sure/Of course/Certainly. 當然可以。
否定回答 Sorry, I can’t. I have to... 對不起,我不能。我得……

否定回答 Sorry, you can’t. 對不起,你不可以。
Sorry, I’m afraid you can’t. 對不起,恐怕不行。

【特別提醒】
(1)表示提出請求或請求許可(即請求別人允許自己做某事)時,could 和can都可以用,但could語氣更委婉。
Could/Can I come in 我可以進來嗎
(2)對別人的請求給予許可時,一般只用can,而不用could。
—Could I use your pen 我可以用你的鋼筆嗎?
—Of course you can. 當然可以。
此處不能用could
3. 用于表示能力
表示現在的能力用can,表示過去的能力用could。此時could是can的過去式。
