本句中的 nothing special 意為“沒有什么特別之處”，形容詞修飾 nothing、something、anything、someone 等復合不定代詞時，須放在復合不定代詞的后面。

except 用于表示同類事物之間的關系，后接名詞、代詞、動詞不定式、副詞、介詞短語等。
except 后一般接帶 to 的動詞不定式，但當 except 前面有謂語動詞 do 或其相應形式時后面通常接省略 to 的動詞不定式。

except，except for，besides 與 but
except 表示“除······外”，排除其后內容，即從整體中除去一部分(排除同類)
except for 表示“除······外”，除去的是不同類事物或強調整體中的例外情況
besides 表示“除······外(還有)”，包括其后部分，即在具體的整體之外再加上一部分
but 與 except 表示的意思相同，還可與 no one、none、nothing、any、no 等否定詞連用

although 相當于 though，用來引導讓步狀語從句。although 引導的從句放在主句前后均可。
[注意]
在英語中，當表示“雖然······，但是······”時，although / though 不能和 but、however 在同一個句子中使用，但可與 yet、still 連用，而且可以轉換成用 but 連接的句子。
Although it′s a public holiday today，some firefighters in our city are still on duty. ＝It′s a public holiday today，but some firefighters in our city are still on duty. 雖然今天是一個公共節假日，但我們城市中的一些消防隊員仍在執勤。
though 作副詞時，意為“不過，然而，可是”通常用于句末補充說明，使語氣變弱，此時不能與 although 互換。

impossible 是由“im-(否定前綴)＋possible (adj.可能的)”構成的形容詞。其副詞形式為impossibly“不可能地”。
You shouldn′t promise what′s impossible.

It′s impossible＋that 從句······是不可能的
It′s impossible for sb. to do sth. 對某人來說做某事是不可能的。
It′s impossible that he can pass the exam.
他能通過考試是不可能的。
It′s impossible for me to get along with him.
對我來說，跟他和睦相處是不可能的。
在英語中有些形容詞可在其前加上否定前綴變成其反義詞，這種構詞法叫派生法。常見的否定前綴還有 un-、in-、dis-、mis- 等。
