Best National Parks in America
Olympic National Park
Visitors have been enjoying Olympic National Park since 1938. The majority of this mostly unspoiled (未遭破壞的) wonder is undisturbed and undeveloped, making it ideal for camping and wilderness exploration. Snow based activities are popular in the winter, while visitors enjoy exploring its woodland areas and long shoreline (海岸線) throughout the other three seasons. Olympic National Park, which includes more than 4,000 square kilometers of the Olympic Peninsula in the northeast corner of Washington state, protects a rich mix of natural and cultural heritage.
Channel Islands National Park
The Channel Islands, rich in history and long in ocean miles, provide a unique opportunity for ocean, land, and history enthusiasts. Fans of the sea will enjoy relaxing on beaches, diving and sailing between the islands. Land lovers will enjoy great hiking options on all six islands, as well as one permanent camping on each. History lovers will enjoy learning about the park's nearly 13,000 years of human history.
Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands National Park is located in southeastern Utah and is famous for 527 square miles of beautiful desert landscape formation that has resulted in many canyons, ephemeral pools, and buttes by the Colorado River and its network of rivers and streams. Water erosion (侵蝕) has been the important architect of the beautiful landscape that attracts hikers and families who travel to see its breathtaking (令人驚嘆的) sunset and experience the great outdoors.

(2024·廣西北海市高一上期末)Travelling plays an important part in making us feel relaxed and happy. It also brings good changes in our life and keeps us alive and active. Travelling gives us practical experience of things we have studied in the books. So a person who does not travel at all does not find any meaning in the name of Ganga River. However, if he has travelled to this place, he can truly relate everything he has studied and will always remember each and every detail of that place.
Nowadays, many people like travelling as they want to explore the world and watch everything they have read about. And this seems to be quite true as practical knowledge is more important and effective (有效的). People like to visit historical places present in different parts of the world and collect information to write books and stories.
Travelling has become easier due to advancement in technology and transportation (交通). Earlier people used to travel by road or sea and it took many days to travel from one place to another. However, now the situation has changed and people travel to far off places within hours and minutes—thanks to well built roads and airplanes.
People travel for different purposes. Some travel for further education while others travel to relax and enjoy. Many people take a break from their busy schedule and go for a vacation, which makes them feel pleased and energetic (充滿活力的).
Many writers and painters travel to different places to experience some of the best things in nature and express them in the form of paintings or books. People also travel for business purposes so as to make money from their business. Students travel for educational purposes. Everyone has a unique reason to travel. Therefore, travelling is an important part of human life and it provides knowledge and offers all kinds of benefits (益處) to mankind.

(2024·安徽省安慶市第一中學高一上期中)Why are you doing this I often hear that or similar questions. Many people don't understand why I like travelling by bicycle. 1(____) But for me, it's the best way to travel.
When I sit on the bike, I am free and flexible (靈活的). I can stop at any time to eat or start the stove to enjoy a coffee with breathtaking views. I'm not dependent on bus or train. 2(____) I come to places I would never have seen. My bike makes it possible for me not to plan beforehand, which leaves space for adventure. Because adventures don't come around the corner during a planned hotel vacation.
I am in the nature the whole day. The wind blows across my face. 3(____) I see monkeys hanging directly above me in the tree, whales swimming along the coast, a bear waving at us and many more animals. Smelling the blackberries, I'm stopping to fill my stomach. In the car, bus or train, I would have missed all of these.
4(____) Some long-term cyclists spend 4,000 dollars per year or less. And I spend about 350450 dollars a month. This is due to two reasons: I have no transport costs. And I also have the freedom of wild camping, during which I can cook for myself. All these factors contribute to a cheap travel.
I could tell hundreds of stories. Because of getting to know so many people, I have experienced a lot. The travel form itself invites many to ask questions. And the best thing about it is that all these stories make me rich. I'm rich in memories, of which I always think with laughter. 5(____)

C.It will change the way you see the world.

(2024·廣西柳州市高一上聯考)Chile is famous for its many attractions. If you're planning a visit, be sure to add “Mano del Desierto” or “Hand of the Desert” to your must see list.
Standing 11 meters tall and made of iron and cement (水泥), this sculpture of a hand emerges from the sand in the Atacama Desert, which is known as the driest desert in the world outside of polar regions. The sculpture was created by Mario Irarrazabal in the early 1980s and was financed by a local nonprofit organization. The sculpture is not only impressive in terms of its design but also in the message it expresses. Many people believe that the hand represents the weakness and helplessness of human beings, as well as their strength and determination to overcome hardships. It is a reflection on the human condition and our relationship with nature.
If you're interested in visiting the Hand of the Desert, take Route 26 or 28 from Antofagasta, a port city in northern Chile. The sculpture is located between mile markers 1309 and 1310 and can be reached from either direction. The desert's flatness makes it easy to spot the sculpture from far away.
Visitors should take precautions (預防措施) before leaving, such as filling their gas tanks, packing plenty of water, and wearing sunscreen. They should also avoid driving too quickly, as many car accidents occur in the desert each year.
For those who are nervous about driving alone, working with an agency like Plan South America is a good choice. The founder of the agency, Harry Hastings, said that he always tries to join a visit to the sculpture with guests traveling to the desert, calling it an “important landmark” that is both culturally and visually significant.

2.What can we know about from Paragraph 3
A.The sculpture can be reached very easily.
B.The sculpture can be seen from far away.
C.The sculpture is protected by the government.

Joshua Tree National Park

Travelling has become easier due to advancement in technology and transportation
(交通).

I am in the nature the whole day. The wind blows across my face. 3(____) I see monkeys hanging directly above me in the tree, whales swimming along the coast, a bear waving at us and many more animals. 4(____) Some long-term cyclists spend 4,000 dollars per year or less. And I spend about 350 450 dollars a month.

(2024·廣西柳州市高一上聯考)Chile is famous for its many attractions. If you're planning a visit, be sure to add “Mano del Desierto” or “Hand of the Desert” to your must see list.
精深閱讀
