For most of her life, Joy Ryan never saw the scenery beyond her home state of Ohio. Then, when she was in her mid-eighties, her grandson Brad Ryan decided to take her on a journey to all of the US National Parks, which took eight years to complete. At the age of 93, Grandma Joy has finally seen all 63 parks, ending her journey in the National Park of American Samoa.“When I learned she had never seen the great wildernesses of American deserts, mountains, oceans, I decided to intervene (干預) in some way,” Brad says. This idea inspired their first trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. However, once they were on the road, Brad realized that they could visit more parks that were nearby. Over the years, they managed to see all of the famous sights at Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, the Redwoods, and so on. But Brad values the time spent with his grandmother just as much as the amazing places they were able to visit.Despite Grandma Joy's older age, she was able to hike mountains. Brad regards her love for life as the key to her good health. She is grateful for each new day and is always excited for the next journey. Finally, their long journey across the US came to an end with American Samoa.“I am thankful every morning for giving me another day,” Grandma Joy shares. “And you're your choice whether you're going to have a rainy day or a sunny day. So, smile at everybody, and let everybody know you're having a whale of a time.” While her tour of the US has come to a close, she and her grandson are not done traveling. Houston, like many cities, is turning back the clock to make room for passers by, cyclists and parks.Memorial Park in Houston, Texas was halved by the Memorial Drive Highway in the 1950s. It has now been reunited. The highway is still there, but the road goes underneath the 1,500 acre park. The restoration (修復) of Memorial Park is part of a larger plan that was made after the city suffered from a serious drought. It was thought that 80 percent of the forested canopy (樹冠) was dead. One of the ways to fight that was to reintroduce native plants and animals. The city hired the landscape architectural company, Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, to work with the Houston parks and the Memorial Parks Conservancy. The architects, led by Woltz, were inspired by wildlife crossings in the Northwest US and explored the possibility of using this idea in Memorial Park. Over the years, the park was cut into 20 pieces that were divided by highways, roads and parking lots. The only crossing was a 12 foot bridge. After 10 years of planning and constructing, the Kinder Land Bridge officially opened in early February, 2023. The bridge consists of 100 acres of greenery, and while designed for people, has reconnected wildlife corridors (廊道). The reconstruction added 45 acres of native Gulf Coast prairie (草原) that'll increase biodiversity in the park. “This project is not just about creating a passage or a bridge. This project is about ecology; it's about biodiversity and water management. This project is a bridge into Houston's future,” said Shellye Arnold, president of the Memorial Park Conservancy.28.What led to the restoration of the Memorial Park A.A company's suggestion.B.A terrible natural disaster.C.The demand from the public.D.The recovery of native plants.29.How did wildlife crossings in the Northwest US affect the architects A.They knew how to restore the Memorial Park.B.They got the inspiration for rescuing animals.C.They gained a sense of achievement for working.D.They developed a new way to protect the landscape.30.What do we know about the Kinder Land Bridge from the text A.It is about 12 feet in length.B.Its aim is to save water.C.It benefits the wild animals.D.Its birth is a short process.31.What is a suitable title for the text A.A Highway Connects a Park in HoustonB.The Importance of Building Land BridgesC.Efforts to Restore Parks in American CitiesD.Houston Creates a Creative Way to Restore NatureDMount Lushan, bordered on the north by the Yangtze River and on the south by Poyang Lake, presents the whole scene of the river, hills and lake. Though we'd saved much, we still had difficulty affording the trip. Actually, it had already been a hard year when we were living on a tight budget. But we still agreed to take them to the Disneyland theme park. Then a letter arrived saying our cousin was getting married in Southern California, where there is a Disneyland theme park. Anyway, we had to celebrate with her. So we made a plan that we could go on a trip to the theme park after her wedding. To reduce the cost, we'd stay in the car for the night and use discount tickets to go to the park the day the wedding was finished. But after arriving there, we found Disneyland was out of reach financially for four children. Then I noticed outside its gates was a massive LEGO store. So I decided to take the children there and let them pick out LEGO sets to take home and build. They could spend as much time as they wanted exploring the store. And during the time, I must come up with a solution to entering the park. Upon entering the shop, the kids were excited to see all the life-sized things built to decorate the LEGO store. While the children were busy shopping, my phone rang. It was my mother who asked me about the trip. When I was telling my mother the trouble of entering the park, I felt a tap on my shoulder. A woman, a tourist, had overheard the conversation. “My name is Patty, and I have tickets to Disneyland,” the woman said. “We're not going to use them. I think I can give you my extra tickets.” Hearing her words, I felt a wave of relief. My children could achieve their dream of entering the park. In this period I'd like to talk a little bit about Denmark. If you would go to Denmark, I would recommend you to go to Legoland, which is an amusement park. The whole thing in the amusement park is built out of toys. Even the attractions, the rides, the tables at the restaurants are all made out of its famous plastic bricks. You'll never find stones there. And if you go to the center of Copenhagen, you don't pay any taxes. It's very beautiful. And the nature is amazing. Speaking of nature, I'd like you to go to Skane, which is in the northern part of Denmark. Again, the nature is incredible. You can go to the Baltic Sea and the Northern Sea flowing together, and you can stand with one foot in each ocean. One more thing regarding nature would be going to the southern part of Denmark where we have something called Sort Sol. It's a natural phenomenon where you have millions of birds gathering mostly in the daytime, but also at night, and they fly in huge groups. One more thing you should do in Denmark would be going to a handball game. It's a Danish national sport similar to football. It's just not as popular in other countries, but still it's a very interesting sport.18.What is the amusement park famous for A.Plastic bricks. This project is a bridge into Houston's future,” said Shellye Arnold, president of the Memorial Park Conservancy. 28.What led to the restoration of the Memorial Park A.A company's suggestion.B.A terrible natural disaster.C.The demand from the public.D.The recovery of native plants. 根據第三段中的“The restoration (修復) of Memorial Park ... suffered from a serious drought.(紀念公園的修復是該市遭受嚴重干旱后制訂的更大計劃的一部分。)” B。29.How did wildlife crossings in the Northwest US affect the architects A.They knew how to restore the Memorial Park.B.They got the inspiration for rescuing animals.C.They gained a sense of achievement for working.D.They developed a new way to protect the landscape. 根據第四段中的“The architects, led by Woltz ... this idea in Memorial Park.” A。30.What do we know about the Kinder Land Bridge from the text A.It is about 12 feet in length.B.Its aim is to save water.C.It benefits the wild animals.D.Its birth is a short process. C。31.What is a suitable title for the text A.A Highway Connects a Park in HoustonB.The Importance of Building Land BridgesC.Efforts to Restore Parks in American CitiesD.Houston Creates a Creative Way to Restore Nature答案:D解析:標題判斷題。通讀文章,尤其是根據最后一段中的“This project is not ... into Houston's future (這個項目不僅僅是建造一條通道或一座橋梁。這個項目是關于生態的,是關于生物多樣性和水資源管理的。這個項目是通往休斯敦未來的橋梁)”可知,文章主要講述了休斯敦的一項用新的理念去體現生態、生物多樣性和水資源管理的公園修復項目。D項(休斯敦用一種創造性的方式來恢復自然)最適合作為文章標題。故選D。DMount Lushan, bordered on the north by the Yangtze River and on the south by Poyang Lake, presents the whole scene of the river, hills and lake. This project is a bridge into Houston's future,” said Shellye Arnold, president of the Memorial Park Conservancy.篇章導讀:本文是一篇新聞報道。文章主要報道了休斯敦的紀念公園被修復一事。該公園在修復過程中十分注重生態,其中一座橋重新連接了野生動物廊道。28.What led to the restoration of the Memorial Park A.A company's suggestion.B.A terrible natural disaster.C.The demand from the public.D.The recovery of native plants.解析:細節理解題。根據第三段中的“The restoration (修復) of Memorial Park ... suffered from a serious drought.(紀念公園的修復是該市遭受嚴重干旱后制訂的更大計劃的一部分。)”可知,嚴重的干旱導致了紀念公園的修復,即自然災害導致了紀念公園的修復。故選B。29.How did wildlife crossings in the Northwest US affect the architects A.They knew how to restore the Memorial Park.B.They got the inspiration for rescuing animals.C.They gained a sense of achievement for working.D.They developed a new way to protect the landscape.解析:細節理解題。根據第四段中的“The architects, led by Woltz ... this idea in Memorial Park.”可知,野生動物廊道給了建筑師們啟發,使他們探索在紀念公園使用野生動物廊道的可能性。因此可知,野生動物廊道的影響在于使建筑師知道應如何修復紀念公園。故選A。30.What do we know about the Kinder Land Bridge from the text A.It is about 12 feet in length.B.Its aim is to save water.C.It benefits the wild animals.D.Its birth is a short process.解析:推理判斷題。根據最后一段中的“The bridge consists of ... has reconnected wildlife corridors (廊道).(這座橋由100英畝的綠地組成,雖然是為人類設計的,但它重新連接了野生動物廊道。)”可推知,這座橋對野生動物是有益的。故選C。31.What is a suitable title for the text A.A Highway Connects a Park in HoustonB.The Importance of Building Land BridgesC.Efforts to Restore Parks in American CitiesD.Houston Creates a Creative Way to Restore Nature解析:標題判斷題。通讀文章,尤其是根據最后一段中的“This project is not ... into Houston's future (這個項目不僅僅是建造一條通道或一座橋梁。這個項目是關于生態的,是關于生物多樣性和水資源管理的。這個項目是通往休斯敦未來的橋梁)”可知,文章主要講述了休斯敦的一項用新的理念去體現生態、生物多樣性和水資源管理的公園修復項目。D項(休斯敦用一種創造性的方式來恢復自然)最適合作為文章標題。故選D。DMount Lushan, bordered on the north by the Yangtze River and on the south by Poyang Lake, presents the whole scene of the river, hills and lake. When I was telling my mother the trouble of entering the park, I felt a tap on my shoulder.A woman, a tourist, had overheard the conversation. “My name is Patty, and I have tickets to Disneyland,” the woman said. “We're not going to use them. I think I can give you my extra tickets.” Hearing her words, I felt a wave of relief. My children could achieve their dream of entering the park. So after saying thanks, I followed Patty to her hotel to get the tickets.注意:1.續寫詞數應為150個左右;2.請按如下格式在相應位置作答。But in her hotel, she discovered only two tickets were left.﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍I couldn't believe that this wonderful, generous woman was sending all of my children to Disneyland!﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍寫前導讀:本文是一篇記敘文。文章主要講述了作者一家原本計劃帶四個孩子去迪士尼樂園,但因預算緊張而面臨困難。此時一個名叫Patty (帕蒂)的陌生游客主動贈送多余的迪士尼樂園門票,但是Patty只有兩張門票可用,作者如何帶著四個孩子進入迪士尼樂園?作者一家在得到Patty的幫助后有何感悟?[精彩范文]But in her hotel, she discovered only two tickets were left. Though not enough for all the children, the two tickets meant a lot to me. After appreciating her kindness, I was prepared to leave. But Patty stopped me and took me to the hotel's front desk. I was not sure what Patty was doing but I waited at a table for her quietly. After what seemed half an hour, Patty returned and handed me two more tickets to Disneyland and said, “Have the best day ever!”I couldn't believe that this wonderful, generous woman was sending all of my children to Disneyland! With tears of joy streaming down my face, I hugged Patty, exchanged personal information and took her picture. As we parted, Patty was no longer a stranger but forever a part of my family. At the end of the day, we knew we had the best day ever. It was Patty that made our day. We will never forget the miracle given to us by Patty and follow her example to help others in need. 展開更多...... 收起↑ 資源列表 第三單元檢測卷.docx 第三單元檢測卷.mp3 第三單元檢測卷.pptx 縮略圖、資源來源于二一教育資源庫
