一、定義
形容詞、副詞最高級用于表示三者或三者以上的人或事物中，某個人或事物在某方面具有最高程度或“最...”的特性。
一、形容詞最高級：
1）表示三者或三者以上中的“最...”：
結構： the + 形容詞最高級 (+ 比較范圍)
比較范圍： 通常用 in... (在某個地方/群體內) 或 of/among... (在...之中) 來引出。
eg：1.Tom is the tallest in our class.
2. This is the most interesting book of all.

2）表示“非常”、“極其”（不一定有明確比較）：
這時最高級前常加 one of, among 或者用在序數詞后面，表示“最...之一”。
結構： one of the + 形容詞最高級 + 復數名詞 或 among the + 形容詞最高級 + 復數名詞
eg：1.Beijing is one of the biggest cities in the world.
2. She is among the best students in her school.

二、 副詞最高級的用法：表示三者或三者以上動作或狀態的程度“最...”：
用法與形容詞最高級類似，但副詞最高級前面的定冠詞 the 常常可以省略。
結構： (the) + 副詞最高級 (+ 比較范圍)
比較范圍： 同樣常用 in... 或 of/among...。
eg：1. He runs (the) fastest in his team.
2. She sings (the) most beautifully of all the girls.
3.Who jumped (the) highest at the sports meet

最高級的構成主要分為規則變化和不規則變化兩種。
(一) 規則變化
形容詞/副詞原級特點 最高級構成規則 形容詞最高級例子 副詞最高級例子
單音節詞 詞尾 + -est tall → tallest fast → fastest
以字母 e 結尾的單音節詞 詞尾 + -st large → largest late → latest
以“輔音字母 + y”結尾的詞 變 y 為 i + -est happy → happiest early → earliest
以“一個元音字母 + 一個輔音字母”結尾的重讀閉音節詞 雙寫結尾輔音字母 + -est
big → biggest (副詞較少見此類變化)
