1. 表示過去的能力
— Could you swim when you were 5 years old 當你五歲時，你會游泳嗎？
—Yes, I could. / No, I couldn’t. 是的，我會。/ 不，我不會。
2. 表示可能性
You could be right, but I don’t agree with you. 你可能是對的，但我不同意你的看法。

(1) 問句
Could you (please) (not) do ... 表示請求對方(不)做某事
Could you (please) do the dishes 你能洗一下餐具嗎
Could I do ... 表示請求對方允許自己做某事

肯定回答：Certainly. / Of course. / Yes, please. / It’s OK. (不用could)
否定回答：Sorry, you can’t. / I’m sorry ... (不用couldn’t)
