(2024·南京高二下學期質檢)After I graduated from the university, I got so pressured in finding a job.I did a lot of applications both online and handing in person to a particular company. It occurred, one day I went to hand in my CV (簡歷) to a certain company and I wanted to meet the human resource manager in person because I believed it was a better choice than leaving my CV at the reception.
Unfortunately, in this company the security lady at the reception did not allow me to see the human resource manager and instead asked me to just leave the CV with her and that she would deliver it.I was really disappointed since I knew she wouldn’t do that and my CV will just be thrown in the trash can, I thought so because it usually happens a lot in some other companies. So I just left with my head down and never thought about it again since I knew I would never get any feedback from the company.
Weeks passed and one day I received a call from an unknown number and guess what ...it was the human resource manager of that same company, I was really shocked since I did not expect it at all.So he said he received my CV and that he would work on it.

(2024·煙臺高二下學期月考)You’ve probably heard it suggested that you need to move more throughout the day, and as a general rule of thumb, that “more” is often defined as around 10,000 steps. With many Americans tracking their steps via new fitness-tracking wearables, or even just by carrying their phones, more and more people use the 10,000-step rule as their marker for healthy living.Dr Greg Hager, professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins, decided to take a closer look at that 10,000-step rule, and he found that using it as a standard may be doing more harm than good for many.
“It turns out that in 1960 in Japan they figured out that the average Japanese man, when he walked 10,000 steps a day burned something like 3,000 calories and that is what they thought the average person should consume so they picked 10,000 steps as a number,” Hager said.
According to Hager, asking everyone to shoot for 10,000 steps each day could be harmful to the elderly or those with medical conditions that make it unwise for them to jump into that level of exercise, even if it’s walking. The bottom line is that 10,000 steps may be too many for some and too few for others. He also noted that those with shorter legs have an easier time hitting the 10,000-step goal because they have to take more steps than people with longer legs to cover the distance. It seems that 10,000 steps may be suitable for the latter.
A more recent study focused on older women and how many steps can help maintain good health and promote longevity (長壽).The study included nearly 17,000 women with an average age of 72.Researchers found that women who took 4,400 steps per day were about 40% less likely to die during a follow-up period of just over four years, compared to women who took 2,700 steps.Interestingly, women in the study who walked more than 7,500 steps each day got no extra boost in longevity.
5.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refer to?( )
A.The phone recording.
B.The 10,000-step rule.
C.The healthy living.
D.The fitness-tracking method.
6.What does Paragraph 2 mainly talk about?( )
A.How many steps a Japanese walks.
B.How we calculate the amount of steps.
C.If burning 3,000 calories daily is scientific.
D.Where 10,000 steps a day came from.
7.Who will the 10,000-step rule be the most suitable for according to Hager?( )
A.Senior citizens.
B.Young short-legged people.
C.Healthy long-legged people.
D.Weak individuals.
8.How many steps may the researchers suggest senior citizens take each day?( )
A.4,400 steps. B.10,000 steps.
C.2,700 steps. D.7,500 steps.

②To prevent harmful habits like these from dominating a teenager’s life is essential.
③To change bad habits is never easy, even with many attempts.

To know something about English is one thing; to know English is quite another.
It is impossible to learn a foreign language without making painstaking efforts.

To improve our teaching method is very important.
To teach you the uses of the infinitives is my job today.(表具體行為)
Teaching is my job.(表抽象行為)
3.動詞不定式和when、 where、 how、 what、 whether等疑問詞連用,在句子中作主語。

To improve your spoken English needs your constant practice.

1.It is/was+形容詞+(for/of sb)+動詞不定式
(1)It is/was+形容詞+(for sb)+動詞不定式
It is necessary for us to master some basic living skills.

(2)It is/was+形容詞+(of sb)+動詞不定式
It is foolish of you to trust a person like him.
→You are foolish to trust a person like him.
2.It is+a/an+名詞(如a pity/a shame/a pleasure/one’s duty/an honour ...)+to do ...

3.It takes/costs/requires/makes ... sb/sth to do sth

①④
To know something about English is one thing; to know English is quite
another.

To teach you the uses of the infinitives is my job today.(表具
Teaching is my job.(表抽象行為)
3. 動詞不定式和when、 where、 how、 what、 whether等疑問詞連

(2)It is/was+形容詞+(of sb)+動詞不定式
clever、foolish、 polite、impolite、 silly、selfish、 considerate
It is foolish of you to trust a person like him.
→You are foolish to trust a person like him.
2. It is+a/an+名詞(如a pity/a shame/a pleasure/one’s duty/an

After I graduated from the
university, I got so pressured in finding a job.I did a lot of applications
both online and handing in person to a particular company. It occurred,
one day I went to hand in my CV (簡歷) to a certain company and I
wanted to meet the human resource manager in person because I believed it
was a better choice than leaving my CV at the reception.
Unfortunately, in this company the security lady at the reception did
not allow me to see the human resource manager and instead asked me to
just leave the CV with her and that she would deliver it.I was really
disappointed since I knew she wouldn’t do that and my CV will just be
thrown in the trash can, I thought so because it usually happens a lot in
some other companies. So I just left with my head down and never thought
about it again since I knew I would never get any feedback from the
company.
Weeks passed and one day I received a call from an unknown number
and guess what ...it was the human resource manager of that same
company, I was really shocked since I did not expect it at all.So he said
he received my CV and that he would work on it.
I was so happy and felt bad at the same time for doubting the security
lady the other day.
This experience made me reflect on people around me and it was a
reminder to believe in people and not assume things just because of the

You’ve probably heard it suggested
that you need to move more throughout the day, and as a general rule of
thumb, that “more” is often defined as around 10,000 steps. With
many Americans tracking their steps via new fitness-tracking wearables,
or even just by carrying their phones, more and more people use the 10,
000-step rule as their marker for healthy living.Dr Greg Hager, professor
of computer science at Johns Hopkins, decided to take a closer look at
that 10,000-step rule, and he found that using it as a standard may be
doing more harm than good for many.
“It turns out that in 1960 in Japan they figured out that the average
Japanese man, when he walked 10,000 steps a day burned something
like 3,000 calories and that is what they thought the average person
should consume so they picked 10,000 steps as a number,” Hager
said.
According to Hager, asking everyone to shoot for 10,000 steps
each day could be harmful to the elderly or those with medical conditions
that make it unwise for them to jump into that level of exercise, even if
it’s walking. The bottom line is that 10,000 steps may be too many for
some and too few for others. He also noted that those with shorter legs have
an easier time hitting the 10,000-step goal because they have to take more
steps than people with longer legs to cover the distance. It seems that 10,
000 steps may be suitable for the latter.
A more recent study focused on older women and how many steps can
help maintain good health and promote longevity (長壽).The study
included nearly 17,000 women with an average age of 72.Researchers
found that women who took 4,400 steps per day were about 40% less
likely to die during a follow-up period of just over four years, compared
to women who took 2,700 steps.Interestingly, women in the study who
walked more than 7,500 steps each day got no extra boost in longevity.
