We use cardinal numbers to count things.

1) hundred, thousand, million, billion這些詞前面若有表示具體數(shù)字的詞時,它們不能加“s”,反之要加“s”,并與of短語連用。

We form most ordinal numbers by adding ____ to the cardinal numbers, except first, second and third. For numbers of 21 and above, the ordinal number is formed based on the last digit (21st, 22nd, 23rd, etc.).

The usage of ordinal numbers
表示順序:常與定冠詞“the”連用。the first day of the month (這個月的第一天);the second chapter (第二章);the third floor (三樓);on his fourteenth birthday (在他十四歲生日那天)。
表示日期:June 1st (六月一日),讀作“June the first”;in the twenty-first century (在21世紀(jì))
用于最高級前加強語氣:He is the second tallest boy in our class. (他是我們班第二高的男孩)。
分?jǐn)?shù)表達:分子用基數(shù)詞,分母用序數(shù)詞。當(dāng)分子大于1時,分母用復(fù)數(shù)。one fifth (五分之一);two thirds (三分之二)。
1) 序數(shù)詞前面通常要加定冠詞the,但當(dāng)序數(shù)詞作定語修飾名詞且前面有形容詞性物主代詞或名詞所有格時,the可以省略。
