How to form comparative and superlative adjectives
當(dāng)我們將兩個對象進(jìn)行比較時，我們要用形容詞的比較級，表示“較……”“更……一些”“比……更……”。
當(dāng)被比較的對象是三個或三個以上時，我們會用形容詞的最高級，表示“最……”，最高級前通常要加定冠詞 the。
1. 大多數(shù)詞后加er或est
2. 以字母e結(jié)尾的詞后加r或st
3. 以一個輔音字母結(jié)尾的重讀閉音節(jié)詞 ，雙寫最后一個輔音字母，再加er或est
形容詞比較級和最高級的構(gòu)成方法
e.g. small—smaller—smallest
near—nearer—nearest
e.g. large—larger—largest
fine—finer—finest
e.g. hot—hotter—hottest
slim—slimmer—slimmest
4. 以輔音字母+y結(jié)尾的詞，去掉y，再加ier或iest
5. 部分雙音節(jié)詞和多音節(jié)詞在前面加more或most
e.g. busy—busier—busiest
tidy—tidier—tidiest
e.g. beautiful—more beautiful—most beautiful
wonderful—more wonderful—most wonderful
口訣
比較級要變化，一般詞尾加-er。
詞尾若有啞音e，直接加r就可以。
重讀閉音節(jié)，單個輔音字母要雙寫。
輔音字母加y，要把y改i。
最高級加-est，前面加the莫忘記。
形容詞若是多音節(jié)，只把more，most前面寫
注意：
構(gòu)成形容詞比較級和最高級的er和est，自成一個音節(jié)，讀作/ (r)/ 和/ st/。如果原級詞末為不發(fā)音的字母 r，加er和est 時，r 要發(fā)/r/ 音，如clear /kl (r)/、clearer / kl r (r)/、clearest / kl r st/。如果原級詞末的發(fā)音為/ /，加er 和est 時，/ /音后得加上/ɡ/音，如 long /l /、longer / l ɡ (r)/、longest / l ɡ st/。

注意：
有些形容詞有兩種比較級和最高級的變化方式。如：
clever—cleverer/more clever—cleverest/most clever
far—farther/further—farthest/furthest
形容詞比較級常見用法
1. A + be + 比較級 + than + B.
e.g. This picture is more beautiful than that one.
這幅畫比那幅畫更漂亮。
2. Which/Who ... + 比較級 , ... or ...
e.g. Which picture is more beautiful, this one or that one
這幅畫和那幅畫，哪個更漂亮
3. 比較級前用a little、much、even 等詞來修飾
e.g. China is much larger than Japan.
中國比日本大得多。
4. “比較級 + and + 比較級” 越來越……
e.g. China is becoming stronger and stronger.
中國正變得越來越強(qiáng)大。
1. the + 最高級 + of/in+表示范圍的詞語
e.g. I am the tallest of/among the three.
我是三個人中最高的。
Russia is the largest country in the world by area.
俄羅斯是世界上面積最大的國家。
2. one of 后面的形容詞常用最高級
e.g. It's a present for one of my children.
這是送給我的一個孩子的禮物。
形容詞最高級常見用法
4. 用序數(shù)詞修飾形容詞的最高級。
3. 形容詞性物主代詞 + 最高級
注意：此時形容詞的最高級前不需要加定冠詞the。
e.g. Peter is his oldest son. 彼得是他的長子。
e.g. In the USA, the second largest city is Los Angeles.
美國的第二大城市是洛杉磯。
