當我們將兩個對象進行比較時，我們要用形容詞的比較級，表示“較……”“更……一些”“比……更……”。
當被比較的對象是三個或三個以上時，我們會用形容詞的最高級，表示“最……”，最高級前通常要加定冠詞 the。
e.g. Betty is the most helpful person in our class.
Max is the tallest boy in our class.

① 大多數詞后加er變成比較級，加est變成最高級。

⑤ 多音節詞和部分雙音節詞應在其前加more變成比較級，加most變成最高級。

注意：
構成形容詞比較級和最高級的er和est，自成一個音節，讀作/ (r)/ 和/ st/。如果原級詞末為不發音的字母 r，加er和est 時，r 要發/r/ 音，如clear /kl (r)/、clearer / kl r (r)/、clearest / kl r st/。如果原級詞末的發音為/ /，加er 和est 時，/ /音后得加上/ɡ/音，如 long /l /、longer / l ɡ (r)/、longest / l ɡ st/。

注意：
有些形容詞有兩種比較級和最高級的變化方式。如：
clever—cleverer/more clever—cleverest/most clever
far—farther/further—farthest/furthest

2. Which is bigger, the sun or the moon
太陽和月亮，哪個更大？
通常情況下，我們用“比較級 + than”來引出比較的第二部分。
我們常用“which/who ... + 比較級 , ... or ... ”的句型來表示在兩者中選擇。
3. China is much larger than Japan.
中國比日本大得多。
4. China is becoming stronger and stronger.
中國正變得越來越強大。
我們可在比較級前加上 a little、much、even 等詞來表示程度。
我們用“比較級 + and + 比較級”的結構來表示人或事物本身程度的改變。

Russia is the largest country in the world.
俄羅斯是世界上最大的國家。
我們用“the + 最高級 + 比較范圍”的結構來表示在某一范圍內“最……”。介詞 of和among后面接表示范圍的人或事物，in后面接表示范圍的名詞或名詞性短語。

我們用“形容詞性物主代詞 + 最高級”的結構來表示某人或事物的“最……”。注意：此時形容詞的最高級前不需要加定冠詞the。
3. In the USA, the third largest city is Los Angeles.
美國的第三大城市是洛杉磯。
我們可以用序數詞修飾形容詞的最高級。
