Bees are very hard-working animals, and their greatest work is pollination. On one trip, they often visit 50 to 100 flowers. As they fly from one flower to another, they take pollen with them. This action helps plants grow. In fact, without their work, about 80 per cent of the plants in the world cannot grow. For this reason, many scientists believe that bees are the most important animals on this planet.
Bees are also one of the most interesting animals in the world. For example, they work hard together to make their homes. In order to store honey, they create honeycombs.

Another interesting thing about bees is how they communicate. When a bee finds new food, it uses a dance to tell the others where and how far away the food is.

Bees live in a house that is called a hive. They are of three kinds, — workers, drones, and queens. Only one queen can live in each hive. If she is lost or dead, the other bees will stop their work. They are very wise and busy little creatures. They all join together to build cells of wax for their honey. Each bee takes its proper place, and does its own work. Some go out and gather honey from the flowers; others stay at home and work inside the hive. The cells which they build, are all of one shape and size, and no room is left between them. The cells are not round, but have six sides.

【知識(shí)講解】
⑴in fact 為固定短語，意為“確切地說；實(shí)際上”，通常出現(xiàn)在句子的開頭或中間，用于引導(dǎo)并強(qiáng)調(diào)即將提到的信息是真實(shí)可信的。它也可以出現(xiàn)在句子的末尾，用于總結(jié)或強(qiáng)調(diào)前面所說的內(nèi)容。
⑵without作介詞，表否定，意為“無；沒有”。
①用在否定詞之后，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)肯定：without用在no, not, never等否定副詞之后，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)肯定，意為沒有······不、沒有······則不能······、每······必定······。例如：There is no smoke without fire.無風(fēng)不起浪。
②與動(dòng)名詞形式連用：without與動(dòng)名詞形式連用，表示不、無、沒。例如：He walked past me without speaking.他從我身旁走過，一句話也沒說。
③表示條件：without有時(shí)表示條件，意為若無、若非。這樣用時(shí)，有時(shí)還可引出虛擬語氣，相當(dāng)于but for。例如：Without your advice, I would have failed.假若沒有你的勸告，我想必已失敗了。

【句型剖析】
in order to 意為“為了······”，表示目的。后面直接接動(dòng)詞原形，整個(gè)句子是非謂語結(jié)構(gòu)，屬于動(dòng)詞不定式作目的狀語。
eg: Jack and Helen had dropped behind in order to be alone.
為了單獨(dú)待在一起，杰克和海倫故意落在后面。
【拓展】so that 意為“以至于；為了”，有時(shí)可與in order that互換，多用于非正式語體，so that后面接從句。
