在英語中，外公和爺爺都是 grandfather（grandpa），外婆和奶奶都是 grandmother（grandma）。哥哥和弟弟都是 brother，姐姐和妹妹都是sister。
由于中西方在家庭觀念方面的文化差異，西方國家不分嫁娶，只要結婚就是一家人，除了以上詞匯通用以外，叔叔舅舅，阿姨姑姑，表堂等稱呼全部通用。如果需要特別說明的情況，可以用 “on my mother’s side” 或者 “on my father’s side” 來區分。
Language focus
1. Hello 和 Hi 的用法：都是 “你好” 的意思，“Hi”多用于熟人間的打招呼；“Hello” 多用于初次見面打招呼。
2. How are you？ 你較為熟悉且能直呼其名的人。
3. How do you do？ 用于初次與同學或朋友見面的正式場合。
4. Nice to meet you. 用于第一次見面的陌生人。
