本句是祈使句。祈使句是用來表示請求、命令、勸說、號召、告或叮囑的句子。它常以動詞原形開頭，一般省略主語 you。有時為了表示禮貌，常在動詞原形前加 please。please 也可以放在句尾，前面常用逗號與其他成分隔開。

[拓展] 祈使句的否定形式是直接在動詞原形前加 don′t.

cut up 相當于 cut... into pieces。cut up 是個“動詞＋副詞”型短語，代詞作賓語時只能放在 cut 和 up 之間；名詞作賓語時，既可放在 cut 和 up 之間，也可放在 up 的后面。

This water can be used to boil pasta or vegetables. 這些水可以用來煮面條或蔬菜。

boiling 通常用于描述正在進行的動作或狀態

half [限定詞] 一半的；半個的
half 一般放在冠詞之前。

of 后面的名詞或代詞若為單數意義或名詞為不可數名詞，則其謂語動詞用單數形式；of 后面的名詞或代詞若為復數意義，則其謂語動詞用復數形式。
