Language points
make的用法
make作為使役動詞，意為“使；使成為”。在表示“使(要)某人(事物)做什么(怎么樣)”時，它除了要有一個“賓語”之外，還要求賓語后面帶上一個賓語補足語，整個句子才能完整，其用法有：
1.“make+名詞/代詞+形容詞(短語)”意為“使某人／某物(感到)……”。make是謂語動詞，名詞/代詞是make的賓語，后面的形容詞或形容詞短語在此作賓語補足語。
喝咖啡能使我活力充沛。
Drinking coffee can make me energetic.
2.“make+名詞/代詞+動詞原形”意為“使某人做某事”，此處的動詞原形是省略to的不定式，也作賓補。
沒有人讓我們在某一固定時間就寢。
Nobody made us go to bed at a certain time.
像這樣的詞常見的有：聽（hear）、觀（see, watch, notice）、感（feel）、使（make）、讓（let, have）、助（help）等。
【歸納拓展】
make只能跟動詞不定式(省略to)作賓補，但不能跟現在分詞作賓補。但是有些動詞，如see, find, watch, notice, hear等，它們既可以接不帶to的不定式作賓補，表示已經完成。也可以接現在分詞作賓補，表示動作正在進行或發生。
我聽到他在教室里唱歌。
I heard him singing in the classroom.
3. “sb. be made to do sth.”，意為“某人被迫使做某事”，在被動語態中，to不能省去。如：
她被迫等了一個多鐘頭。
She was made to wait for over an hour.
◆英語中，類似于make這種用法的動詞還有let, have, hear, see, watch, notice, feel等。如：
有人看見她進了教室。
She was seen to go into the classroom.
4.“make+名詞/代詞+名詞(短語)”意為“使某人／某物(變得)……”，名詞(短語)作賓補。
我們選他當我們的班長。
We made him our monitor.
5.“make+賓語+過去分詞”意為“使某人/某事被……”。賓語補足語是過去分詞時，賓語是過去分詞的邏輯賓語，賓語與過去分詞之間存在邏輯上的被動關系。
我們必須 在兩個小時內做完這件事。
We must make it done in two hours.

(1) to start with 意為“起初的，開始時”，作為“首先”來講時，相當于firstly, first of all。
e.g.
首先必須說，他是一個政治家。
To start with, he is a politician.
（2）grey 作形容詞，意為“（天空）陰沉的；昏暗的；灰色的”。
e.g.
那是一個陰沉、潮濕、四月里的星期天。
It was a grey, wet, April Sunday.
