Read the sentences. What is the relationship between the two parts of each sentence
How are they connected
(1) People in Chongqing were open to new things although high mountains and wide rivers made travel difficult.
(2) Though it’s a very old radio, it still works well.
(3) Many children had to go to work although they were very young.
(4) Although there were more new chances in the city, living conditions there were
unpleasant for most people.

Read the sentences. What is the relationship between the two parts of each sentence
How are they connected
The relationship between the two parts of each sentence is one of “contrast” or “concession”, which is grammatically represented by the use of “although” .
This structure is used to show that despite the situation described in the first part (which often presents a challenge, difficulty, or negative condition), the outcome or situation described in the second part still occurs or holds true.

An adverbial clause of concession comes either before or after the main clause.
In general, use a comma (,) when an adverbial clause begins the sentence.

Although 和 though 都可以引導讓步狀語從句，表示“盡管”或“雖然”的意思。它們的語法規則和用法非常相似，以下是具體的規則和例句：
1. 位置：
可以放在句首，也可以放在句中（主句之前）。
例如：
Although/Though + 從句，主句。
主句 + although/though + 從句。

注意tips：
Although 和 though 通?？梢曰Q使用，但 although 更正式，though 更口語化。
在句首時，although 和 though 都可以使用；在句中時，though 更常見。
如果從句表達的是事實或既定情況，可以用 even though 來強調對比。
Although 和 though 句子中都不可以和but同時出現，不可一起使用。
