What is syllable (音節)
音節是語言中單個 元音音素和 輔音音素組合發音的最小語音單位。
英語單詞中,每含有一個元音音素,就有一個音節。
含有一個音節的,稱為單音節詞(所有的單音節詞都需要重讀,但不標重音符號);
含有兩個音節的,稱為雙音節詞;
含有三個音節及以上的,稱為多音節詞。
在雙音節詞和多音節詞中,有一個音節讀得特別重而強,其他音節讀得相對輕一些或弱一些,這個特別響亮的音節稱為重讀音節(用重音符號'表示,標于重讀音節前面左上角處,如/'mju:z k/)。
