/k/是清輔音，發音時聲帶不振動。發音時舌后部弓起，緊貼軟腭，然后突然放開，讓氣流從口腔沖出，爆破成音。
/w/是濁輔音，發音時聲帶振動，發音時舌后部向軟腭方向抬起，雙唇緊緊收圓并向前突出。
注意: 字母 q 和字母 u 是好朋友，它們總是一起出現，變成 qu，讀/kw/。
