1. Sometimes my friends and I argue but don’t know how to make up.有時候我和朋友們吵架,但不知道如何和解。
argue作動詞,意為“爭論;爭吵”，其常見用法如下:
argue with sb與某人爭論
I argued with my best friend.我和我最好的朋友吵架了。
argue about sth就某事爭論
Let’s not argue about small details.咱們不要在細枝末節上爭論了。

【拓展】argue 的名詞是argument,意為“爭吵;論點”。
They had an argument yesterday.
他們昨天吵架了。
His argument was logical.

2.Some of you may prefer texting,有些人可能更喜歡發短信，prefer作動詞,意為“較喜歡”。過去式是preferred,現在分詞是preferring,其常見用法如下:
prefer A to B喜歡A勝過B
I prefer tea to coffee. 比起咖啡,我更喜歡茶。
prefer (doing) sth更喜歡做某事
They prefer walking to school.他們更喜歡步行上學。
prefer + that從句 寧愿/希望……
I prefer that we leave early. 我希望我們早點離開。
【拓展】prefer 的常見搭配:
①would prefer意為“更想要”,委婉表達愿望。
I would prefer a window seat.
我更想要靠窗的座位。
②prefer ... rather than ...意為“寧愿……也不……”。
She prefers to text rather than call.
她寧愿發信息也不打電話。
3. If you stay calm and say sorry, it will help.
如果你保持冷靜并道歉,這會有所幫助。
calm作形容詞,意為“鎮靜的;沉著的”。
keep calm意為“保持冷靜”;calm down 意為“冷靜下來”。
Stay calm when facing problems.
遇到問題要保持冷靜。
Take a deep breath to calm down.

【辨析】calm、quiet、silent與still
calm 強調“情緒或環境的平靜” The lake looks calm in the morning.
早晨的湖面看起來很平靜。
quiet 指“聲音小或沒有噪聲” “Be quiet”said the teacher.
“安靜點!”老師說道。
silent 強調“完全無聲” They nodded in silent agreement.
他們默默地點頭表示同意。
still 指“靜止不動” The children wouldn’t keep still.
