Collecting is a popular hobby with people around the world. Some people collect stamps, bottles or dolls, and others collect baseball cards, teapots or shells. There are almost as many kinds of collections as there are collectors.
Coin collecting, called numismatics, is one of the most popular kinds of collecting. People like learning about coins and their history. They like to find rare (稀有的) coins. Some see their collections as a valuable investment (投資),and others just enjoy the beauty and variety of their coins.
There are many different kinds of coin collections. Some numismatists choose to collect foreign coins. They may choose a certain country or a certain time period when they begin their collections. Another popular way to collect is to choose a theme (主題) and then look for coins that have pictures of the animals, people, or objects about it.
Some collections can become very valuable. This counts on the type of the coin, the rarity of the coin and the need for the coin. If you own a rare coin that few people are interested in, it will be worth less than a rare coin that many people want to own.
Condition (狀況) also plays an important role in deciding a coin’s value. Serious collectors keep their coins very carefully in special boxes. They handle their coins with gloves.
If you are interested in starting a coin collection, the best thing to do is to learn a little about it first. You can find books about coin collecting at the library, and you’ll learn how to decide the value of different coins and keep your collection properly. The next time you look through the coins in your pocket, you might find that you have the beginning of a very interesting hobby!

Here is some “breaking” news: the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has added (增加) Breaking (霹靂舞) to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games!
Breaking might be one of the very unusual sports to be added to the Games, as it’s often seen as more of an art than a sport.
The dance style first appeared (出現) on the streets of New York in the 1970s. Performers dance to hip-hop music while using different movements. In the 1980s, Breaking swept around the world when it was adopted by pop stars such as Michael Jackson. Jackson’s moonwalk became popular among teenagers worldwide.
Why did the IOC choose Breaking Over the past few years, the Olympics have become less interesting for young people. The IOC is trying to make the Games more “youthful”, with sports that young people actually do in their spare time. “We want to take sports to the youth,” said IOC President.
To be added to the Olympics, a sport must be widely practised by men in at least 75 countries and by women in no fewer than 40 countries. Breaking certainly meets this standard (標準), according to The Sydney Morning Herald. It is also competitive (有競爭力的) and requires strict training just like other sports. Dancers need to have the strong upper body and core (核心) strength.
“I train at least 10 hours a week, and I’ve been training since I was a young kid,” the top Australian Breaking dancer Lowe said.
“It’s great that it gives us more recognition (認可) as a sport,” said the British Breaking dancer Karam. “Now, the efforts of Breaking dancers are gradually accepted and even admired by a growing number of people. And for the Olympics, it will attract young people who may not follow some of the traditional sports.”
33.From the third paragraph, we can know that ________.

Scientists found plants seemed to be doing some “talking”. Lilach Hadany and her team recorded (記錄) some plants in different places. Their recordings revealed that the plants made some sounds.
When the scientists changed their recordings so that people could hear them clearly, they heard clicking (咔嗒) sounds. But they also found the plants hardly clicked when they had enough water. As their soil (土壤) got drier, they clicked more and more.
When the scientists cut off a part of the plants, the plants also clicked more. But the clicking wasn’t the same as when the plants needed water. The plants made more sounds when they felt bad. Because of these findings, the scientists thought that they can use a plant’s sounds to find out when it needs help, and what problem it is having.
Some questions come with the study. One important question is: Do plants make sounds to talk with each other Other studies showed that plants seem to talk in some ways. Plants being eaten by other animals send chemicals (化學物質) into the air. Soon, nearby plants start to make other chemicals that don’t taste good to the animals. Maybe the sounds could work in the same way. Another big question is: Is anything listening to the plants Hadany points out that she and her team will study if there are plants or animals answering the clicking sounds plants make.
The study changed people’s ideas about plants. Hadany says, “Even in a quiet place, there are sounds that we don’t hear, and those sounds have things to tell.”
37.What does the underlined word “revealed” mean

根據“with care, always wearing gloves to touch it”和首字母提示可知,此處指他小心對待這枚硬幣,handle“對待”,動詞,主語he是第三人稱單數,時態為一般現在時,要用三單形式handles。故填(h)andles。
根據“this coin to his collection”和首字母提示可知,此處指把這枚硬幣加到收藏中,add ... to ...“把……添加到……”,固定短語,由last year可知,時態為一般過去時,要用add的過去式added。故填(a)dded。
根據“the history of each coin to them”和首字母提示可知,此處指向朋友們解釋硬幣的歷史,explain“解釋”,動詞,enjoy doing sth.
根據“a ... of time”和首字母提示可知,他覺得妹妹貼貼紙的行為浪費時間,waste“浪費”,名詞,a waste of time表示“浪費時間”。故填(w)aste。
故填(a)ttracts。

How are you Let me tell you something about my everyday life.

At noon, I have one hour for lunch. I’m in the Kung Fu Club. So after school, I usually go there. Mr. Liu is our teacher and he is really good at doing kung fu.
