Hello, people of Earth:
Fine, you know it. Your finest scientists found life here, on our beautiful planet (行星) Venus. Good for you! However, we have something to say: Stay away.
We are serious. Stay away from us. If we wake up one morning, look out and find some strangers walking around, we are going to be really ticked off.
We want to be nice to you. It’s just that we’re scared by what you’ve done down there. Earth looks like a mess. It is totally ruined (破壞). You got health problems like COVID-19. And don’t even start to talk about your air problem, water pollution... No wonder so many of you want to leave Earth for somewhere else.
Leave us alone. Stay right where you are. We know you’d like it here. That’s what scares us. We’ve got beautiful weather, enough room for everyone, a proper cost of living, etc. But we can only deal with so much. If we start having you Earth people all up here, pretty soon, people from the Mars and Jupiter are going to come, too. Trust us: you don’t want them to sleep on your sofa, eating up your snacks.
So, cool your mind. We are not your running away plan. Venus is not Earth II. In all fairness, you’ve got something good over there, too. Earth is great, such as the long history, your colorful cultures and so on.
All in all, we wish you the best in saving your planet. If not, try Neptune. They’re pretty lonely and bored out there.
Sincerely,
Venus

Keeping Baby Safe When human babies are born, someone has to keep them warm, feed them, carry them, and protect them from danger. But some baby animals must take care of themselves when they are born.
Mother sea turtles (海龜) lay their eggs on the beach, then return to the water. At birth, baby sea turtles go to the ocean all by themselves.
Butterfly (蝴蝶) moms fly away after they’ve laid (產(chǎn)卵) their eggs. When a small caterpillar (毛毛蟲) comes out from its egg, it knows to eat its egg — and then keep on eating leaves until it grows big enough to change into a butterfly.

①We can see circles, squares and triangles everywhere in our daily life. Have you thought about their meanings in films Much like colors, different shapes can show different personalities (特征) of characters in the scenes.
②Circles represent (代表) things that are soft and natural. The round shape reminds us of things that appear in nature, like the sun, raindrops and so on. We can also connect circles with beautiful eyes, babies’ round faces ... All these things make us feel happy and warm. This is why so many cartoon characters’ bodies—heroes, good people—are round in shape, because circles represent goodness, happiness and friendliness.
③Squares show things that are unnatural or man-made, or things that are boring or old-fashioned. In Up, Carl, has a square face and wears square glasses, while Russell, an 8-year-old boy with a round face, always wears round medals. These shapes show the characters’ personalities. Carl is stubborn (執(zhí)拗的) and lonely, while Russell is lovely and full of energy.
④The angriest shape is the triangle. Every kid who draws a monster with sharp teeth draws a row of triangles, don’t they That’s because the shape represents fear, distrust and doubt in some way. Look at the bad guys in cartoons—they are all drawn with plenty of points and triangles, like Shengongbao in Ne Zha. And triangles are stable (穩(wěn)固的) and don’t easily fall down. In films, this personality makes bad people difficult to deal with.
⑤Not only in cartoons, but also in other kinds of films, different shapes are used for the same purpose. So, try to find the hidden shapes and you will know what the characters are like.
8.The writer explains the relationship between squares and personalities of characters by ________.
A.telling a story B.giving an example
C.raising a question D.showing the results of a study

A. B. C. D.

12.What does the passage mainly talk about

B.What makes heroes in films have great charm.
C.What different shapes represent in films.
D.How to make cartoons with different colors and shapes.
When yon hear the word “shape-shifting (變身)”, you may think of science-fiction (科幻) movies, and not the climate. But that’s what animals are doing to deal with climate change.
A new study shows that some animals are gradually (逐漸地) growing larger beaks (鳥喙), legs and ears. In this way, they can lose heat (溫度) more easily to cool themselves down as the earth gets warmer.
“A lot of the time when we talk about climate change, we ask ‘Can humans overcome (克服) this ’ But we should know that animals also have to get used to this,” said the study’s writer, Sara Ryding, from Australia. If animals fail to control their body temperature, they can overheat and die.
In one example, the beaks of some Australian parrots (鸚鵡) have grown 4 to 10 percent larger since 1871. The study says it’s closely related (相關的) to higher summer temperatures over the years. Some other examples include wood mice. They have longer tails (尾巴). Masked shrews (假面鼩鼱) are getting longer tails and legs, and bats in warm climates have bigger wings (翅膀). Though the changes are still small, Ryding said they could be clearer as the days become hotter.
Though animals are changing their body shapes, scientists still worry that it doesn’t mean everything is fine. It just means they are trying hard to live. Not all animals will succeed (成功), our humans (人類) won’t be successful, either.

①Chinese traditional painting and dance are two important parts of the art world. But what about when they meet each other
②Two years ago, a dance program named Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting (《只此青綠》) was staged on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala and became a hit.
③According to CCTV, this dance program was inspired (激發(fā)) by the 900-year-old Chinese painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains (《千里江山圖》). Created by Song Dynasty painter Wang Xi meng at about 18, the painting is amazing in its big size, rich colors and the expressive details, reported CCTV. It shows a Chinese blue-green picture of land, “mountains and groupings of rise and fall between cloudless sky and rippling (波浪起伏) water”.
④The dancers were thought as mountains in the performance. They each had a different hairstyle, which was similar to a mountain rock. The clothes they wore were green and blue, which is also a poetic interpretation (演繹) of the mountains and rivers. When the dancer swung, audiences seemed to be looking at the moving mountains and rivers “It brings me an enjoyable experience of beauty. It is not only a drama but also an ‘exhibition’ which shows excellent works of art to the public. Huge mountains and rivers are coming to life!” Internet user Mo Weisha wrote in a review. “More than a thousand years later, green mountains and rivers still excite people as they did long ago.” Some people even decided to watch the dance again when it was staged in the theaters later.
⑤In fact, in recent years, more and more shows pay attention to Chinese traditional culture and have received warm welcome as the result of people’s great love for traditional culture.
