過去進行時
一、概念
過去進行時表示過去某一時刻或過去某一階段內正在進行的動作。
二、時間狀語
過去進行時常見的時間狀語有：at this/that time, yesterday, the whole afternoon, from 8 to 10 this morning以及when, while等引導的時間狀語從句等。
三、基本結構
肯定句：主語 + was/were + 動詞的現在分詞 + 其他。如：
We were watching TV from seven to nine last night. 我們昨晚7點至9點正在看電視。
I was watching a basketball game on TV when the phone rang. 電話響起時，我正在觀看電視上的籃球比賽。
否定句：主語 + was/were not + 動詞的現在分詞 + 其他。如：
Mike wasn't doing his homework at 8:00 last night. He was listening to music. 邁克昨晚8點沒有做家庭作業。他在聽音樂。
一般疑問句：Was/Were + 主語 + 動詞的現在分詞 + 其他？肯定回答：Yes, 主語 + was/were；否定回答：No, 主語 + wasn't/weren't。如：
— Were you cleaning your bedroom when I called you 我給你打電話時，你在打掃臥室嗎？
— Yes, I was. / No, I wasn't. 是的。/不，我沒有。
