一、教學(xué)目標(biāo)
(一)知識(shí)目標(biāo)
1. Students are able to understand and master key words and phrases related to the cities along the Silk Road, such as "walk across", "take a picture", "have a look", "main", "sand", "believe", "safe", etc.
2.They can learn about the cultural and historical significance of Lanzhou and Dunhuang, and master relevant English expressions.

1. Through reading the text and answering questions, students can improve their reading comprehension ability and extract key information from the text.
2. Students are able to use the learned words and sentence patterns to conduct simple oral communication, such as describing the characteristic scenic spots of cities and discussing travel experiences.

三、教學(xué)方法
1. Situational Teaching Method: By showing pictures, playing videos, etc., create situations related to the cities along the Silk Road, allowing students to experience the local cultural atmosphere and stimulating their learning interests.

(一)Lead - in (5 minutes)

1. Vocabulary Learning (7 minutes)
(1)Use word cards to present new words and phrases, such as “walk across”, “take a picture”, “have a look”, “main”, “sand”, “believe”, “safe”. Read the words and phrases aloud, and let students repeat after the teacher, paying attention to the pronunciation.
(2)Explain the meaning and usage of the words and phrases through examples. Reading (13 minutes)
Lanzhou (6 minutes)
Show a video about Lanzhou. After watching, ask students: “What do you know about Lanzhou ” Let students share their ideas.
Present the passage about Lanzhou on the PPT. Let students read the passage quickly and answer the following questions:
What is the first bridge over the Yellow River
How long is the Yellow River
Where do many people take pictures
(3)Check the answers together. Then, let students read the passage carefully and complete a table about the famous places in Lanzhou, including their locations and special features.
Dunhuang (7 minutes)
(1)Show a video about Dunhuang. After watching, ask students: “What do you know about Dunhuang ”
(2)Let students read the passage about Dunhuang. First, read it quickly and answer some simple questions, like “What can you see in the Mogao Caves ” “Where can you ride camels ”
(3)Then, read the passage again and complete a mind - map to summarize the main information about Dunhuang, such as its famous attractions, unique features.
(三)Classroom Exercises (10 minutes)
Vocabulary Exercises (5 minutes)
Do some vocabulary - related exercises on the PPT, such as filling in the blanks with the correct forms of the new words, or matching the words with their meanings.
2. Let students work individually first, and then check the answers in pairs.
Reading Comprehension Exercises (5 minutes)
Present some multiple - choice questions or true - or - false questions based on the passages about Lanzhou and Dunhuang. Let students choose the correct answers or judge the statements.
Check the answers and explain the reasons for the wrong ones.
(四)Group Activities (10 minutes)
1. Divide the students into groups of four or five. Give each group a task: Suppose you are travel agents, and you need to introduce either Lanzhou or Dunhuang to foreign tourists.
2. Let the group members discuss and prepare their introductions. They can use the information from the texts and add some extra details they know. Each member should have a chance to speak in the group.

(五)Writing Guidance (10 minutes)

(七)Homework Assignment (5 minutes)
Finish the writing task and email it to the teacher.
Look up more information about other stops along the Silk Road and share it with classmates next class.
