Lead in Watch a short video about the story of Galileo Galilei. Answer the question in activity 1 on P36. What may help you acquire knowledge more effectively To arouse Ss’ interest and lead them to the topic.
Pre- reading Skim and divide the passage into three parts. Then match the main idea with each part. To make the Ss have a general understanding of the text.
While -reading Step 1 Read para 1 and complete the chart in activity 2 on P36. To start with,we need _________. Then, to find answers, we _______. After that,we _________________. To make Ss grasp the skill of key words in reading a text.

Homework Compulsory work: Write a short passage about someone you admire and share the quality you learn form him/her. Optional work: Watch a short video about a famous person or someone who has done a lot for China. To make Ss practice what they have learned in the class and get to know the values of scientists.
