A survey on the time students spend practising spoken English daily was carried out by our school’s English newspaper,and the results are as follows
It has been found that 59% of the students devote less than 30 minutes to spoken English practice,while students sparing over 30 minutes to practise only account for 22%. Additionally, there’re 19% of students reporting no daily oral practice.
It is encouraging to see that a majority of students engage in regular spoken English exercises . However, there’s still a good portion of students who do not prioritize oral practice at all.
Therefore, further efforts should be made to raise awareness of the importance of sufficient spoken English practice.

Popular Books Among Students
Recently, our school's English newspaper conducted a discussion on Popular Books among Students. According to the survey, 43% of the students prefer to read science books, followed by comics readers, which accounts for 26%. And 18% of the students have a preference for reading sports and music books while 13% of the students enjoy reading classical books.
It is encouraging and exciting to see many students reading regularly to improve comprehension skills and cultivate imagination. However, it is no stretch for us to find that there is something that can be done. One feasible suggestion would be to provide more diverse reading materials that cater to different interests and reading levels, encouraging students to read books outside their comfort zone to explore new perspectives.
In my view, It is my hope that our school organize book clubs, where students can discuss and share their thoughts. By doing this, it can stimulate their curiosity and critical thinking and enhance their social skills.
