Ultimately, Li came of age. He thought it was time to shift the heavy burden from his mother to himself. Actually, a plan arose in his mind---he wanted to be a delivery driver. But Li knew verywell that his family couldn't afford a truck, so he had to bury his dream deep inside. But his mother sensed that.Therefore, his mother secretly made a big decision!
On Li’s 20th birthday, his mother gave him a gift he had always been longing for---a pickup truck. It was truly a surprise to Li! Eyes glued to the very truck, tears swirling in his eyes, he could imagine the scene that his mother raised money everywhere to get him the gift! Unable to utter a word, Li just hugged his mother tight for quite a while.
With the help of this pickup truck, Li's career took off. His diligence, capability and sincerity contributed to the promotion of his family's living conditions. Li settled in the city for the convenience of his work. Besides, Li no longer had to drive the pickup truck, as he managed to buy a luxury car. But Li knew how much the pickup meant to him, so he kept it in his garage and took care of it gingerly. Soon after, Li intended to take his elderly mother to the city, but his mother declined, stating that she preferred to stay in their hometown, where she had been accustomed to the living environment. Therefore, Li had to give up the idea. Despite his tight schedule, he stuck to regularly visiting his mother.
