一、現在分詞作狀語的用法
動詞ing形式作狀語,即現在分詞作狀語,屬于非謂語動間。在形式上與動名
詞相同,也是"動詞ing形式”構成。除了構成進行時態之外,在句中還可以
作定語、表語、賓語補足語和各種狀語。
現在分詞有一般式、完成式兩種時態以主動語態和被動語態形式。
它的各種形式如下表所示(以動詞do為例) :

說明:現在分詞的否定形式是在doing 之前加not 現在分詞作狀語和賓語補足語
現在分詞(短語)在句中可作時間、原因、條件、結果、方式、讓步或伴隨狀語。
1.作時間狀語(相當于一個時間狀語從句)
________(walk) in the street, she witnessed a car accident .
= When/While she was walking in the street, she witnessed a car accident.
當她在街上行走時,她目睹了一場車禍。

2.作原因狀語(一般可轉換成由as或because引導的原因狀語從句)
現在分詞作原因狀語,相當于because,since,as等引導的原因狀語從句。 ____________(scare), he dare not go out at midnight.= As he was scared, he dare not go out at midnight.
因為害怕,他不敢午夜出去。
3.作條件狀語( 一般放在句首,其前可以加if、unless等連詞)
________(get) along with your colleagues, you'll succeed in your career.
= If you get along with your colleagues, you'll succeed in your career.

4. 作結果狀語
現在分詞作結果狀語,一般位于句末。前文表示原因,現在分詞表示造成的必然結果。
She fell off the bike, _________(break) her left leg .

5.現在分詞作讓步、方式和伴隨狀語時,說明動作發生的背景和情況。作伴隨狀語時,表示分詞的動作和謂語動詞同時發生。

3.用于“with+賓補+現在分詞”的復合結構中。

現在分詞作賓語補足語時,常有以下三種情況:
1.跟在感官動詞(短語)(常見的有see、hear、feel、smell、find、notice、observe

Henry Norman Bethune was a Canadian doctor with a very creative mind and a determination to help people.As a small boy, he became very interested in medicine and decided to become a doctor. After he graduated from medical college in 1916,Bethune worked as a doctor in England, the US, and Canada. He reinvented or redesigned over 10 medical instruments to make them more useful. In 1938,Bethune left or China, after he heard that many people were dying in the war. Despite he difficult situation, Dr Bethune did whatever he could to assist the Chinese people.
He helped to organise hospitals, taught doctors and nurses, and showed people how to give first aid. Sadly ,Dr Bethune passed away in November the following year
and was buried in Shijiazhuang.After Dr Bethune's death, Chairman Mao Zedong wrote an article in memory of him, in which he praised Dr Bethune as a hero to be remembered in China.
