1) “Trick” means a good method or a way of doing something that works well.
2) With a fixed mindset, people believe that their intelligence is fixed and that talent is more important than effort. Alternatively, people with a growth mindset think that their intelligence can grow with time and experience. People with a fixed mindset are afraid of challenges and tend to give up on difficult problems, but people who have a growth mindset usually jump right in, learn from mistakes and work hard to solve difficult problems.

To some extent, people who are afraid of making mistakes also fear challenges. If we play it safe all the time and only do things that we are confident about, we won’t acquire any new skills.
