By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: extract detailed information about apps from the listening material; talk about apps they want to develop which may include the name of the app, the need of users or real-world problems, the main function, and the technologies used in the app. 重點: Students listen to the material about apps and extract detailed information. 難點: The listening material might be difficult to some students to understand.

Step 2 Activate and share T asks Ss questions and discusses: 1. What is an app 2. What apps do you often use 3. What do you use them for Explain some key words in context Activate background knowledge Get familiar with some key words
Step 3 Listen for understanding T tells Ss that we are going to listen to an interview with an app developer, asks Ss to make predictions: 1. Why are apps so popular 2. What are the difficulties in developing an app 3. What are the latest technologies used in apps T explains the Skill Builder to students with example and asks Ss to practice while listening: Listening for Key Words T leads Ss to listen to the interview to check predictions and write down the answers to the questions. 1. Why are apps so popular 2. What are the difficulties in developing an app 3. What are the latest technologies used in apps T leads Ss to listen to the interview again and complete the diagram. Make predictions Prepare students with necessary vocabulary Be aware of the listening skill Listen to get general idea and key information and practice the skill Listen to get detailed information
Step 4 Consolidate the information T leads Ss to summarize the information from previous exercises and list: What have we learned about apps T asks Ss to work in groups to reorganize the information into three groups: app developers, apps, and users. T asks Ss to work in groups to share what we have learned about apps. T leads Ss to discuss 1. Do you think app developers have clear targets Why or why not 2. What’s the function of apps between users and developers T leads Ss to summarize the thinking pattern of app developers. Summarize and reorganize the information Consolidate the information and practice speaking Practice critical thinking and prepare for speaking
Step 5 Speaking T explains to Ss the context and asks Ss to work in groups to complete the App Design Project Note: If you are a group of app developers, you are attending a competition. You are asked to share your ideas of developing a new app or improving one of the current apps. T invites Ss to share and have peer evaluation. Consolidate the information and practice speaking
Homework 1. Read aloud the tapescript while listening to it. 2. Prepare a presentation with slides or a poster to explain your App Design Project. Practice listening and speaking Consolidate and use what we have learned
