Mogao Caves are magnificent(壯麗的) art treasures. Mogao Caves, or the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas(千佛洞), are located in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, on the ancient Silk Road. The murals(壁畫) and Buddha figures(佛像) in these caves are world-famous. The area was listed as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 1987.

In an effort to raise students’ awareness of protecting Chinese cultural heritage, the English Corner of our school held an English Speech Contest in the school lecture hall on Monday.
During the contest, participants first expressed their opinions on the significance of cultural heritage protection. Then/after that, they shared the measures our country had taken to protect the cultural heritage sites. At last, they put forward their own creative ideas about how to better protect them, ranging from setting up an online museum to being a civilized citizen in daily life.
The whole contest went on in a warm atmosphere, and we have realized that more attention should be drawn to the protection of cultural heritage.
