My hero-Yuan Longping
Yuan Longping is my hero because he was one of the world's greatest scientists.He received the Medal of the Republic in 2019.
As a young man, he saw that many Chinese people suffered from hunger, so he dreamed of developing better rice plants.
He attended college and received his degree in 1953. Then he started work. At first, over 3,000 of his experiments failed. But Yuan had a strong will.Whatever happened, he never gave up. He once said,"Every time I fall down, I'll get up and try again."
Finally, he developed new kinds of rice plants, including one that produces 30% more rice than normal. He also created rice that can grow in poor soils.
Yuan didn't stop there. Once again, he worked for a greater dream: rice that can be grown all over the world.He travelled abroad and gave advice about growing rice.
His rice is grown in over 60 countries now. His work helped feed millions of people a year,
and he gave the world victory over hunger.so he was a true hero.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is one of my favorite great books written by Mark Twain. It tells many stories about a boy who has many adventures. Tom is the hero of this book. He is a clever and lovely boy. He doesn’t like people telling him what to do, so he is always in trouble. And because a bad man called Injun Joe is looking for him, he has more trouble. This book describes the life of people in the southern United States at that time. It tells how young people grow up, how people love each other, and how bad people pay for their actions. Today, it is still loved and read by people all over the world, and it is considered as one of the greatest American stories.
Mark Twain was an American writer. He wrote many famous novels. His excellent writing ability came from his personal experiences. He was hardworking and smart. His works are full of humor and popular in the whole world.

I am more than happy to read out the winners of the photo competition.We were very pleased with our competition this year.
The person who won the prize for Nature is Li Wei. His photo shows the different colors of trees on the hill. The photo which we liked best in the City and People group was taken by Zhao Min. Her photo shows a beautiful girl who is wearing a blouse and skirt, and who is protecting her books against the showers.The best photo in the Music group was taken by He Zhong. Agroup of photos which show Beijing and Cambridge in England has won the prize for the subject Home and Away.

As students, we can make our school a green school. Every class collects waste which can be recycled or used again. Then our school sells the waste and uses the money to help students in poor areas. We also learn ways to save energy and recycle at home.

How to be green
We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day, and it is harmful to our environment. Remember the three most important words: reduce, reuse and recycle.
Reduce means “use less”. Do not waste things. It saves money and causes less pollution. Turn off the lights when we don’t need them.
Reuse means “use again”. Use things for as long as possible. Look after them so that they will last. Repair them if possible.
Recycle means “change things into something else to be reused”. We can divide our rubbish into different groups. Do not throw away things made of plastic, glass, paper, but recycle them when possible.
We cannot hope for rapid change, but every little bit helps!
