Rule One
When do we use the passive voice
The timetable has been changed.
1. 不知道或沒必要指出動作的執行者。
The song was composed by a young worker.
2. 說話人對賓語的興趣大于對主語的興
趣(這時可用by引導出動作的執行者)。
Tips
The plan was supported by those who wished to have more chances to speak English.
3. 動作的執行者有較長的修飾語。
You are requested to attend the meeting.
4. 出于禮貌, 不愿意說出動作的執行者。
Rule Two The present perfect passive voice
Meaning have/has + been done
Showing that something has been done
Practice :
Active: His spirit and ideas have in uenced generations of Chinese people.

Rule Three The Present Continuous Passive Voice
Meaning am/is /are + being done
Showing that something is being done
Practice :
Active: More and more people around the world are also learning his ideas.

His ideas are being learned by more and more people around the world.
Step one : Look at the following sentences.
1. It is now being sent to his home by train. (新概念2 L34)
2. The fish, which has since been sent to a museum where it is being examined by a scientist, is called an oarfish. (新概念2 L82)
3. The fantastic modern buildings have been designed by Kurt Gunter. (新概念2 L37)
4. It is being repaired by a friend of my father’s. (新概念2 L10)

2. 少數及物動詞的進行時表示按計
劃、安排將要承受某個動作。

Step two : Learn the key points.
3. 有些動詞進行時的主動形式就可以
表示被動的意思, 常見的這些動詞有:
print, cook, fry, bake, burn, hang …
The house is burning.
The meat is cooking.
4. 某些“介詞+名詞”的短語也可以表
示正在進行著的被動動作, 常見的這
些介詞有: on, under。
Many new cars are on show.
= Many new cars are being shown.
Your questions are under discussion.
= Your questions are being discussed.
5. 有些表“狀態、心理活動、情感”等的
動詞, 常用一般現在時的被動語態表
示“正在進行”。
(1) You are wanted on the phone.
(2) MP3 is becoming more and more
popular. In other words, it is loved
by more and more people.
副詞的位置
often, usually, always, never, hardly,
seldom等副詞置于have / has和been中間。
Such a man has hardly been believed.
2. 并不是所有動詞都有被動語態
(1) happen, take place, break out, belong
to, cost, last等不及物動詞或詞組無被動語態。如：
Great changes have taken place in China since 1978.

(2) open, break, drop等不強調動作發出
者時常用主動語態。
I opened the door for the guests.
The door was opened by me for the guests.
3. 短語動詞不可分割也不可省略其中的介詞或副詞。
The patients have been taken good care of.
