Chinese culture values the great spirit of persistence. Lots of idioms express such meaning, among which is the one we’ll introduce this week—鍥而不舍(Qie Er Bu She).
Literally, the meaning of this idiom lies in each character.

It was launched to raise people’s awareness of ocean conservation. It is commonly acknowledged that oceans are significant to our planet Earth.
With abundant fish and other seafood, they provide a major source of our food. Besides, it plays a significant role in regulating the climate and it absorbs the heat and generates the oxygen we breathe. Last but not least, they also serve as the foundation for much of the world’s economy, supporting sectors from tourism to fisheries to international shipping.
