On May 3, 2024, China successfully launched its Chang’e 6 robotic probe (探測器). This was an exciting event because Chang’e 6 is the first probe in the world to try to bring back samples from the far side of the moon.
Until now, humans have already sent some probes to the moon to collect samples. China’s Chang’e 5 was the first to succeed in this task in 2020. However, all those probes landed on the near side of the moon, which is easier to reach. The far side of the moon is more challenging because it always faces away from Earth. This makes it difficult for probes to communicate with scientists on Earth.
To solve this problem, China launched a special satellite called Queqiao 2 before Chang’e 6. This satellite orbits(繞……運行) the moon and helps Chang’e 6 communicate with Earth. Even if the communication is not perfect, Chang’e 6 has smart technology that allows it to do its job without direct help from Earth.
During its mission, Chang’e 6 will land in a large meteorite crater(隕石坑)called the South Pole-Aitken Basin. It is the largest, oldest, and deepest crater on the moon. Chang’e 6 will collect up to 2 kilograms of rock and dust from the moon. These samples will help scientists understand more about the moon’s history.
Chang’e 6’s mission is not just about collecting samples. It will also study the terrain and geology of the far side of the moon. This information will give scientists a better understanding of how the moon formed and how it has changed over time.
China’s space program is making great progress. In the future, China plans to send humans to the moon and even build a research station there. Chang’e 6 is an important step in making these dreams a reality.
46. Where did Chang’e 6 land on the moon
A. The far side of the moon.
B. The near side of the moon.
C. The South Pole of the moon.
D. The North Pole of the moon.
47. What helps Chang’e 6 communicate with Earth
A. The near side of the moon.
B. The far side of the moon.
C. Smart technology on Chang’e 6.
D. A special satellite called Queqiao 2.
48. How much rock and dust does Chang’e 6 plan to collect
A. Up to 1 kilogram. B. Up to 2 kilograms.
C. Up to 3 kilograms. D. Up to 4 kilograms.
49. What does the underlined word “terrain” mean in Para. 5
A. The gravity of the moon.
B. The atmosphere of the moon.
C. The surface of the moon.
D. The temperature of the moon.
50. What is the main idea of the passage
A. China’s space program is making great progress.
B. China plans to send humans to the moon in the future.
C. China’s Chang’e 6 probe successfully landed on the moon.
D. China’s Chang’e 6 probe is the first to land on the far side of the moon.

Three years ago I moved back to America, but some wonderful memories in China have always stayed with me, which made me fall in love with Chinese culture.
One day, in one corner of a restaurant in Beijing, I saw a painted clay dog: green and blue, with large ears and a long tail. The dog was smiling at me all through dinner. Over the next few days, I kept thinking about it.
I searched for information about the dog and finally knew where it was from — Fengxiang, Shaanxi Province. As the Chinese New Year holiday was coming up, my husband and I decided to go there to explore the clay culture.
We arrived at a tiny village in Fengxiang. There was only a street with a row of modest(樸素的)homes. We walked into the workrooms, where lots of clay animals sat on tables and waited for coats of paint. One of the workers explained that the objects were nisu, dating back to the Spring and Autumn period. They are decorative(裝飾性的)objects and most of them are often modeled on Chinese animal signs, with floral patterns(花卉圖案)and bright colors. Locals make a living by selling them to visitors.
My husband and I spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the village. We finally left with our arms full of clay animals.
