The language has been included in the education systems of more than 75 countries. Over 4,000 overseas universities offer Chinese language courses and it's estimated that about 25 million people are learning Chinese outside China. Never has the demand been greater.As a Chinese, it's interesting that foreigners find our native language fascinating.However, I can understand their fascination, because Chinese is a charming language filled with a long history, beautifully written characters, rich culture and considerable depth in its meaning. Any foreigner who masters the Chinese language would feel that it is a worthy accomplishment.There are several other reasons why foreigners are choosing to learn Chinese. Tourists may choose to take courses in Chinese before their trip. By learning useful travel expressions, they can navigate their way around the city and carry out basic tasks such as ordering food or negotiating prices. Other foreigners might choose to study Chinese at a Chinese university so that they can apply for jobs that may require a good knowledge of the Chinese language.
