1.within prep. 在(某段時間、距離或范圍)內；在…里面
We need to finish the project within two weeks. 我們需要在兩周內完成這個項目。
All the students should stay within the school grounds after class. 所有學生課后應該待在學校區域內。
Smoking is prohibited within the plant area. 廠區嚴禁吸煙。
2. . past 的用法
1). prep. 晚于；在......之后
It's ten past eight. 現在是八點十分。
It was past midnight when we got home.我們到家時已過半夜.
2). n.過去；昔日 （ 前面要加定冠詞 the)
in the past 在過去（通常用于一般過去式和現在完成時）
The past is filled with lessons that we can learn from. 過去充滿了我們可以學習的教訓。
In the past he didn't have enough food to eat. 在過去，他沒有足夠的食物可以吃。
In the past, my brother was afraid of the dark, but now he's not. 在過去，我弟弟害怕黑暗，但現在他不怕了。
3). adj. 過去的，曾經的
His pain is past now. 他的痛苦現在已經過去。
over the past five years 在過去的五年中
4).walk past sb. 從某人身邊經過
He walked past me without speaking.他從我身旁走過，一句話也沒說。
We drove past the house. 我們開車經過那座房子。
They walked past without stopping 他們一步不停地走了過去。
3. collect v. 收集， 收藏
He used to collect cards, but now he likes to collect stamps. 他以前收集卡片,現在卻喜歡收集郵票。
詞性轉換：collection
a collection of “一系列”、“一批”、“一組”或“一個收藏”，具體取決于上下文。
That museum has a large collection of all kinds of famous paintings.那家博物館有大量各種類型的著名畫作的收藏。
4. send v. 送出；發出
send sth. to sb. =send sb. sth 給某人發送/寄某物
My sister sent me a new smartphone for my birthday. 我妹妹送了我一部新智能手機作為生日禮物。
send sb. to do sth. 派某人去做某事
He sent his brother to fix the computer. 他派他的弟弟去修理電腦。
send for a doctor 派人去請醫生
He was so ill that we had to send for a doctor.他病得很重，我們只好給他請醫生了。
5. rise 的用法
1). rise 為不及物動詞，意為“升高；上升”
The sun rises in the east every morning. 太陽每天早晨從東方升起。
反義詞：set 落下
The sun rises early and sets late. 太陽升得早而落得晚。（新1 L53)
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. 太陽從東方升起，在西方落下。
2).指數量、價值或數字的增加或增長
The number of the students in our class rises to fifty. 我們班的學生數量增加到了五十人。
6. through 通過……方式
You can only achieve success through hard work. 你得孜孜不倦方能成功。
拓展：by doing sth. 通過做某事
You can get a lot of information by using the Internet. 你可以通過網絡獲取信息。
He makes a living by doing some odd work. 他靠做一些零工謀生。
7. mix v. （使）混合；拌合
mix... and/with... 把......和......混合起來
You can't mix oil with water. 你不能把油和水混合。
If you mix blue with yellow, you'll get green.藍色和黃色混合在一起就成了綠色。
Mix red and blue to make purple. 把紅色和藍色混合起來調成紫色。
8 produce v. 生產
product n. 產品；產物；結果；（自然過程或化學反應的）生成物
The factory produces hundreds of cars every day. 這家工廠每天生產數百輛汽車。
The product of his hard work and dedication is a successful business. 他的努力和奉獻的結果是成功的事業。
The new smartphone is the latest product from the tech giant. 這款新智能手機是科技巨頭的最新產品。
9. most importantly 最重要的是
Most importantly, parents should choose correct ways to bring up their children.最重要的是，父母應該選擇正確的方式撫養他們的孩子。
importance n.重要；重要性 important adj. 重要的
Understanding the importance of learning English can inspire students to study harder. 理解學習英語的重要性可以激勵學生更努力學習。
When you have a lot of homework to do, time management is of great importance.當你有很多作業要做時，時間管理非常重要。
10.非整點時刻的表達方式
1).直接表達法：
12:02 twelve two 6:30 six thirty 11:40 eleven forty
2).小于等于30分鐘，用“分鐘+ past+小時”表示，意為“幾點過幾分”
12:02 two past twelve
3).大于30分鐘，用to 來表示，但要注意鐘點及分鐘的變換。如6點47分我們通常會將之換算為7點差13分，即 thirteen to seven。
注意：當分鐘數是15時， 可用a quarter 來表示，意為“一刻鐘”。如 a quarter past ten 10點過一刻；當分鐘數是30時，可用half表示，意為“半”。如 half past ten 10 點半
11. useful adj. 有用的 （反義詞：useless 無用的）
It is a useful book and, what is more, not an expensive one.這是有用的書，更難得的是不貴。
12. mean a lot to 對 ... 來說太重要
This really means a lot to me and my family. 這對我和我的家人來說真的很重要。
Her son means a lot to her. 兒子對她來說十分重要。
"You mean everything to me." the boy tenderly said. “你是我的一切。”男孩深情地說。
13. though 的用法：
1). 雖然；盡管（=although)
引導讓步狀語從句，不能與but 連用。
I don't know him well though I've known him for a long time. 我對他并不了解，雖然我認識他已經很長時間了。
Though it was raining, we decided to go for a walk. 盡管下雨，我們還是決定去散步。
2). 可是，不過，然而（用在句末補充說明使語氣減弱）
He said he would come, he didn't, though.他說他要來，可是并沒有來。
Our team lost. It was a good game though.我們隊輸了，可是這也不失為一場好球。
14. breathe v. 呼吸
Babies often breathe through their mouths when they are sick. 嬰兒生病時經常通過嘴巴呼吸。
詞性轉換：breath n. 呼吸；氣息
15. turn into=change into 變成，成為
turn …into= change...into 把…變成…．
Ice can turn into water on a hot day. 冰在炎熱的天氣里可以變成水。
With a wave of her magic wand, she changed the frog into a handsome prince.她用魔杖一揮，把青蛙變成了英俊的王子。
拓展：turn 的固定搭配
turn on - 打開（電器、水龍頭等）
turn off - 關閉（電器、水龍頭等）
turn up - 調高（音量、熱度等）
turn down - 調低（音量、熱度等）；拒絕
turn to - 轉向；求助于
turn left/right 向左/右轉
16. be important to 對…很重要
Your friendship is very important to me. 你的友情對我非常重要。
The ring is important to me as an emblem of our love. 這枚戒指是我們愛情的象征，對我來說很重要。
另外，也有It's important for sb. to do sth. 這樣的句型。
用to時，自己覺得它很重要，不管其他人怎么想
用for 時，客觀上很重要
Schoolwork is very important to Bob, as he wants to become a doctor.對鮑勃來說，學業非常重要，因為他想成為一名醫生。
The meeting is important for you as well as for me. 這個會議對我重要對你也重要。
It is important for us to learn English. 學習英語對我們來講是很重要的。
17. enter 的用法
1). v. 進入, 相當于 go/come into
She entered the building with a smile. 她帶著微笑進入了大樓。
2). 報名參加
enter (for) the competition 報名參加比賽
I decided to enter for the school's math competition to challenge myself. 我決定報名參加學校的數學競賽，挑戰自我。
He decided not to enter for the race. 他決定不報名參加比賽。
18.own 的用法:
1). adj. pron.自己的，屬于自己的
"one's own +名詞"或者"名詞+ of one's own" 某人自己的
This is my own room. 這是我自己的房間。
Children need toys of their own. 兒童需要有自己的玩具。
They have their own ideas. 他們有自己的想法。
2). v. 擁有，相當于 possess
Someday, I will own a shop like this.
有一天,我自己將會擁有一間像這樣的店。
詞性轉換：owner 主人，擁有者
固定搭配： on one’s own 獨立地(憑自己的力量)
After graduation, he lives on his own. 畢業后他就獨立生活了。
I can't carry it on my own. It's too heavy. 我一人拿不動，這東西太重。
19. influence v. 影響；對......起作用 n. 影響力；影響
be influenced by 受......的影響
have an influence on sb./sth. 對某人/某事有影響
Don't let me influence your decision. 不要讓我影響你的決定。
Don't be influenced by bad examples. 不要受壞榜樣的影響。
Computer games have a great influence on children. 電腦游戲對兒童有很大影響。
Some books have a bad influence on young people. 有些書會使青少年受到不良影響。
20. not only ...but also 不僅……而且……
在句中連接兩個并列的成分，側重強調后者，其中 but 或 also 可以省略其中之一。其連接并列主語時，謂語動詞要和離它最近的主語部分保持一致。
He not only speak English but also French. 他不但會說英語,而且會說法語。
Not only my sisters but also my mother enjoys listening to classical music in the evening. 不僅我的姐妹們，我媽媽也喜歡在晚上聽古典音樂。
Not only my mother but also my sisters are good at cooking. 不僅我媽媽，連我的姐妹們也擅長烹飪。
21. be good for 對 ... 有好處
be bad for 對 ... 有害；對... 不利
Eating vegetables is good for your health. 吃蔬菜對你的健康有好處。
Eating too much junk food is bad for your health. 吃太多垃圾食品對你的健康有害。
Smoking is bad for you/bad for your health. 吸煙有害于你/有害于你的健康。
22.辨析：somewhere, anywhere, nowhere, anywhere
somewhere：某個地方
anywhere：任何地方
nowhere：無處
everywhere：到處
nowhere=not...anywhere
everywhere=here and there
I must have seen you somewhere before. 我以前一定在某處見過你。
The city welcomes visitors from anywhere. 這座城市歡迎來自任何地方的來訪客人。
The poor old man has got nowhere to live. 這個可憐的老人無處可住。
In spring，I can see flowers everywhere. 在春天，我能看到到處都是花。
23.choose to do sth. 選擇做某事
choose not to do sth. 選擇不做某事
詞性轉換：choice n. 選擇
make a choice/choices 作出選擇
We chose to travel by train instead of by plane. 我們選擇乘火車旅行而不是乘飛機。
She chose not to tell her secret to anyone. 她選擇不告訴任何人她的秘密。
He made a choice that would change his life. 他做出了一個將改變他一生的選擇。
24. ask for 要求，懇求
ask sb. for help 向某人求助
ask sb. for advice 向某人征求建議
ask sb. to do sth. 要求某人做某事
ask sb. not to do sth. 要求某人不做某事
He asked his parents for a new bicycle for his birthday. 他向父母請求生日時得到一輛新自行車。
When I got lost, I asked a passerby for help. 當我迷路時，我向一個過路人求助。
They asked their teacher for advice on how to study effectively. 他們向老師征求如何有效學習的建議。
The teacher asked the students to be quiet in class. 老師要求學生在課堂上保持安靜。
My parents asked me not to stay up too late. 我父母要求我不要熬夜太晚。
25. make sb. do sth. 使某人做某事
該結構中，make后面跟省略 to 的動詞不定式作賓語補足語。
The boss made his employees work overtime to finish the project. 老板讓他的員工加班完成項目。
My parents made me practice the piano every evening. 我的父母讓我每天晚上練習鋼琴。
26. relax 使 ... 放松
The music will help to relax you. 音樂會使你感到輕松。
詞性轉換：relaxing adj. 令人輕松的
It's relaxing to listen to music after a day's work.一天工作后聽聽音樂是很輕松的事。
relaxed adj. 感到放松的
She remained peaceful and relaxed.她仍然是那樣安詳和放松。
27. more than 不僅僅，超過
1).一般表示“數量”概念，表示“超過，多于”，和 over 同義。
There are more than five hundred people on the playground. 操場上有五百多人。
2).還可以表示“程度” 概念，表示“不僅僅，勝過，超過”
You mean much to me. You are more than a friend of mine. 你對我很重要。你不僅僅是我的朋友。
28. What's your cup of tea 你最喜歡的茶是什么？
one's cup of tea 某人感興趣的東西或對胃口的事物
Travelling is not her cup of tea. 旅游不是她所喜歡的。

29.all day=the whole day 整天
all morning= the whole morning 整個上午
He spent the whole day on his science project.他整個白天都在忙他的科學項目。

30. as many as 和.....一樣多
as many books as stars in the sky 像天上的星星一樣多的書
In the library, there are as many books as stars in the sky. 圖書館里的書就像天上的星星那么多。
31. prefer 的用法 （U4 出現過）
1). prefer 作為及物動詞，相當于like...better,意為“更喜歡”。
Which taste do you prefer 你更喜歡哪種口味？
I prefer apples. 我更喜歡蘋果。=I like apples better.
2). prefer to do sth. 寧愿做某事
Tom prefers to go boating. 湯姆寧愿去劃船。
3). prefer A to B ：比起B更喜歡A
I prefer tea to coffee. 比起咖啡我更喜歡茶。
They prefer Chinese food to Western food. 比起西餐他們更喜歡中餐。
4). prefer doing A to doing B: 和做B相比，更喜歡做A
I prefer reading books to watching TV. 和看電視相比，我更喜歡讀書。
We prefer cooking at home to eating out. 和外出就餐相比，我們更喜歡在家做飯。
5). prefer to do A rather than do B: 寧愿做A， 而不愿做B
I prefer to study rather than play video games. 我寧愿學習而不愿玩電子游戲。
She prefers to read rather than watch TV. 她寧愿讀書而不愿看電視。
32.it's no secret that ... 眾所周知......, ......不是秘密
It is no secret that she dreams of becoming a doctor. 她夢想成為一名醫生，這已經不是什么秘密了。

There will be a lot of changes in our city in the next five years. 在接下來的五年里，我們的城市將會有很多變化。
2）. there is /are going to be...
There is going to be a football game between these two grades in the gym this afternoon. 今天下午這兩個年級之間在體育館將會有一場足球比賽。

B. be doing 結構可以表示將來
對于表示位置移動的動詞( come, go, move 等）來說，可以用現在進行時表示將來。
We are going to the cinema this weekend. 我們這個周末要去看電影。
She is moving to a new apartment next month. 她下個月要搬到新公寓。
The bus is coming. 公交車就要來了。
C. in five years' time =in five years 五年后
We plan to move to a bigger house in five years' time. 我們計劃五年后搬到一個更大的房子。
The city will have a new subway line in three years. 十年后，這座城市將有一條新的地鐵線路。
34. popular adj.受歡迎的；通俗的；流行的；大眾的
Baseball is more popular than any other sport in Japan. 在日本，棒球比其他任何運動都受人歡迎。
His books are very popular with young readers. 他的書深受年輕讀者的喜歡。Professor Smith is popular among the students. 史密斯教授很受學生的歡迎。
35. at the top of 在 ... 的頂上
He shouted at the top of the hill. 他在山頂大喊。
