How to help students understand and use the new words and phrases correctly. 2. How to guide students to express their ideas about the computer and the Internet fluently. Teaching Methods: 1. Task-based teaching method. 2. Communicative teaching method. Teaching Aids: 1. Multimedia equipment. 2. Blackboard and chalk. Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Warming-up (5 minutes) 1. Greet the students and have a free talk with them. 2. Ask some questions to lead in the topic: - Do you have a computer - How often do you use your computer - What do you usually do on the computer Step 2: Pre-reading (5 minutes) 1. Show some pictures related to the computer and the Internet, and ask students to guess what the text might be about. 2. Teach the new words and phrases: laptop, chat, video, report, research, search engine, download, direction. Step 3: While-reading (20 minutes) 1. Fast reading - Ask students to read the e-mail quickly and answer the following questions: - Who is the e-mail from - What is Wang Mei writing on - Check the answers. 2. Careful reading - Ask students to read the e-mail carefully and do the exercises in Let's Do It! Part 1. - Check the answers and explain the difficult points. Step 4: Post-reading (5 minutes) 1. Group discussion - Divide the students into groups and ask them to discuss the following questions: - Do you prefer writing a report on paper or on the computer Why - How often do you use your computer for work, study or fun - Invite some groups to share their ideas. 2. Language practice - Ask students to fill in the blanks in Let's Do It! Part 2 with the correct forms of the words or phrases in the box. - Check the answers and explain the grammar points. Step 5: Summary (5 minutes) 1. Summarize the main points of the lesson: the key words, phrases and grammar. 2. Encourage students to use the computer and the Internet properly. Step 6: Homework (5 minutes) 1. Write an e-mail to your friend about how you use the computer and the Internet. 2. Preview the next lesson. However, some students still had difficulty in understanding and using the new words and phrases. In the future teaching, more exercises and examples should be provided to help them master the language points.
