Teaching Aids Multimedia, PPT, pictures V. Teaching Procedures Step 1: Warming-up (5 minutes) 1. Show some pictures of famous tourist attractions around the world and ask students if they have ever been to these places or if they have a dream to travel there. 2. Have a free talk with students about their travel experiences or dreams. Step 2: Pre-reading (5 minutes) 1. Present the title of the lesson “Travel on the Internet” and ask students to predict what the text might be about. 2. Introduce some key words and phrases related to the topic, such as “dream”, “travel”, “internet”. Step 3: While-reading (15 minutes) 1. Fast reading Ask students to read the text quickly and answer the following questions: What's the main character in the story What happened to Jane's grandma Check the answers with the students. 2. Careful reading Ask students to read the text carefully paragraph by paragraph and answer the detailed questions: What is Grandma's dream How did Jane help her grandma realize the dream What did people do on Jane's blog Have students discuss the answers in pairs and then share with the whole class. Explain the key vocabulary and sentence structures while checking the answers. Step 4: Post-reading (5 minutes) 1. Retell the story Ask students to retell the story in their own words based on the key points they have learned. Encourage students to add their own ideas and feelings. 2. Group discussion Divide students into groups of four and discuss the following questions: What do you think of Jane's way of helping her grandma If you were Jane, what else could you do to help your grandma Have each group choose a representative to present their group's opinions. Step 5: Language practice (5 minutes) 1. Fill in the blanks Show the sentences from the text and ask students to fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words given: The father walked into the house. His son __ (follow) him. I was on vacation last week and I didn't __ (receive) your letter. The rain will be a __ (blessing) for the farmers. He will never __ (realize) his dream if he doesn't work hard. You will change your mind when you __ (grow) up. Check the answers and explain the grammar rules. 2. Make sentences Ask students to make sentences using the key words and phrases they have learned, such as “cancer”, “realize”, “blog”, “post”. Step 6: Project (5 minutes) 1. Suppose you see Jane's blog on the Internet. You want to help Jane realize her grandma's dream. What would you do Work in a group of four. Write something or draw a picture in your reply. In what places would you like to put her grandma's picture What would you say to her grandma Don't forget to give your warm hearted blessings to her! 2. Each group presents their work to the class and explains their ideas. Step 7: Summary and Homework (5 minutes) 1. Summarize the key points of the lesson, including the vocabulary, grammar and the main idea of the text. 2. Assign homework: Write a short passage about your dream and how you plan to realize it.
