How to help students express their opinions on the comparison between traditional books and e books. 2. How to guide students to think about the importance and influence of technological innovations in the field of reading. Teaching Methods: Task based teaching method, Communicative teaching method, Reading comprehension strategy instruction. Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Warming-up (5 minutes) 1. Show some pictures of different kinds of books and ask students: How many books have you read this year Do you read e books Do you like them 2. Lead students to have a brief discussion and share their experiences and opinions. Step 2: Pre-reading (5 minutes) 1. Present some key words and phrases from the text: ancient, knowledge, by hand, printing press, common, electronic, habit. Explain their meanings and ask students to guess the topic of the text based on these words. 2. Predict what the text might talk about. Step 3: While-reading (20 minutes) 1. Fast Reading Ask students to read the text quickly and answer the question: What is the main idea of the text Check the answers and guide students to summarize the main idea. 2. Careful Reading Ask students to read the text carefully again and answer the following questions: How did people write books in ancient times What made it possible to print books quickly What kind of books quickly changed people's reading habits Have students discuss the answers in pairs and then share with the class. Explain the difficult sentences and language points if necessary. Step 4: Post-reading ( 5 minutes) 1. Text Organization Ask students to put the sentences in the correct order to review the history of the book. Check the answers and explain the logic of the development. 2. Vocabulary Practice Fill in the blanks with the given words to consolidate the key vocabulary. Check the answers and correct the mistakes. 3. Discussion Divide students into groups and ask them to discuss the following question: Do you like reading paper books or electronic books (e books) Why Encourage students to express their opinions freely and support them with reasons. Have some groups present their discussions to the class. Step 5: Summary and Homework (5 minutes) 1. Summarize the key points of the lesson, including the history of books and the comparison between traditional and electronic books. 2. Assign homework: Write a short passage about your preference for paper books or e books and explain why.
