Teaching Methods: Task-based teaching method, Communicative teaching method Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Warming up (5 minutes) 1. Greet the students and have a free talk. Ask them if they have ever had any special shopping experiences. 2. Show some mottos about honesty on the screen and ask students to share their understanding of them. Step 2: Pre-reading (5 minutes) 1. Present the questions: Would it be difficult to open a shop without a salesperson Why or why not 2. Let students think and discuss in pairs for a few minutes. Then ask some pairs to share their ideas. Step 3: While-reading (15 minutes) 1. Fast reading - Ask students to read the text quickly and answer the question: What is the story about - Check the answer and make sure students understand the general idea. 2. Careful reading - Divide the class into groups of four. Each group reads the text carefully and discusses the following questions: - What did Rose and her husband see on the gate - How did they buy the eggs - Why was Rose surprised - After the discussion, each group selects a representative to report the answers. - Teach the new words and phrases during the discussion, such as 'appreciate', 'trusting', etc. Step 4: Post-reading (10 minutes) 1. Let students fill in the blanks in the passage to review the key points of the text. 2. Fill in the blanks with the words in the box: gate, honest, trust, value, believe - Students do the exercise individually and then check the answers together. - Explain the usage and meaning of each word. 3. Match the sentences - Students work on the matching exercise independently and then correct it together. - Analyze the sentence structures and grammar points. Step 5: Group work (5 minutes) 1. Ask students to work in groups and take turns telling a story about honesty. 2. Walk around the classroom and offer help if needed. 3. Invite some groups to share their stories with the class. Step 6: Summary and Homework (5 minutes) 1. Summarize the main points of the lesson and emphasize the importance of honesty. 2. Assign homework: Write a short passage about an honest person you know or an honest event you have experienced. Board Design: Lesson 28: Ms. Liu's Great Idea New words: appreciate, trusting, etc. Key sentences: Please take eggs from the baskets and leave your money in the box. Reflection: After this lesson, students have a better understanding of the text and the concept of honesty. However, in the group work, some students were not active enough. Next time, more encouragement and guidance should be provided to ensure all students participate.
