Step 1 : Revision T: In the last unit, we talked about animals. Do you remember them Who Can say out their names And write down their names in English on the Bb. Step 2 Presentation T: And I like birds best because most of them are very beautiful and are very friendly to us.And there are many different kinds of birds in the world. Here are some of their pictures. Can you tell me their names Picture 1 T: What is it S: It’s a sparrow. T: Can you say something about it S: … T: Teach the students the names of different parts of birds. If you want to watch birds ,you can go to Zhanglong. Let’s go birdwatching. ( Teach go birdwatching ) Ask the students to say the English names of some birds. Step 3. Practice 1.Show the pictures together and then get the students to give their names. Make sure all the students can read the names correctly. 2. Play a game : reading and guessing (guess what bird it is.) E.g. I live in wetland. I am very tall. Production Make up new conversations using Part B as amodel and act them . Get the Ss to say out the names of the animals they learned before. And they can spell them. Step 2 Introduce the uses of to-infinitives for purpose We can use to-infinitives to express purpose. e.g. I often go to the market to watch birds. Now the Chinese government has made laws to prevent all these things. We can also use in order to to express purposes. This is more formal than to-infinitives. e.g. Some people want to make the wetlands smaller in order to have more space for farms and buildings. Take a notebook with you in order to write down what you see. Step 3 Exercises 1.Match the first parts of the sentences on the left with the second parts on the right. 1 We can use some verbs with objects and to-infinitives. e.g. We are now inviting them to help us. We need more people to count and describe the birds. 2 We add not before to-infinitives to express a negative meaning. e.g. We ask people not to catch birds for any reason. 3 Pay attention to these words: We often use these verbs in this structure. Step 1 Lead-in Show a map of nature reserves in China in order to present Yancheng Nature Reserve. 2.Introduce Yancheng Nature Reserve to the students. 鹽城自然保護區是以丹頂鶴為主的珍禽自然保護區。1982年由江蘇省設立。俗稱棲鶴灘。位于江蘇省中部，包括鹽城市屬響水、濱海、 射陽、大豐4縣及東臺市東部黃海沿岸。該區面對黃海，由古黃河三角洲和長江三角洲所存泥沙在黃海和東海波浪沖撞作用及潮汐作用下形成，沿海灘涂長達444公里，為淤泥質平原海岸的典型代表。區內河流眾多，沼澤濕地發育，生物資源豐富，核心區的生態系統基本處于原始狀態。鳥類有315種，其中屬國家一級保護的9種，二級保護的33種。 Teach the new words.
