賓語從句：賓語從句是在主從復合句中充當賓語的從句。可由 that（可省略）、if、whether 以及連接代詞（如 what、who、which 等）或連接副詞（如 when、where、why、how 等）引導。例如：“I think (that) he is a good student.”“I don't know if/whether it will rain tomorrow.”“Can you tell me where the library is ” 賓語從句需注意時態(tài)呼應，當主句是一般現(xiàn)在時，從句根據(jù)實際情況使用各種時態(tài)；主句是一般過去時，從句通常要用相應的過去時態(tài)（客觀真理除外）。如“He said he was reading a book at that time.” 但“The teacher told us that the earth moves around the sun.”（地球繞太陽轉(zhuǎn)是客觀真理，從句仍用一般現(xiàn)在時）。
表語從句：在系動詞（如 be、seem、look、become 等）之后，用來說明主語的身份、特征、狀態(tài)或性質(zhì)等的從句叫表語從句。引導詞與賓語從句類似，如“That's why I was late.”“The problem is who can help us.” 表語從句需注意與主句時態(tài)的一致性以及引導詞的正確使用。
學習難點分析
賓語從句的時態(tài)呼應：在復雜的語境中，準確判斷主句與從句的時態(tài)關(guān)系較為困難，尤其是當主句是過去時態(tài)時，從句時態(tài)的變化容易出錯。同時，對于一些特殊情況，如客觀真理、名言警句等在賓語從句中的時態(tài)使用容易混淆。
賓語從句和表語從句引導詞的選擇：由于引導詞較多且用法有重疊，在具體句子中選擇合適的引導詞對學生來說有一定難度。例如，whether 和 if 在引導賓語從句時的區(qū)別（whether 可與 or not 連用，if 一般不與 or not 直接連用；介詞后只能用 whether 等），以及在表語從句中某些引導詞的特定用法（如 the reason why...is that...等結(jié)構(gòu)）都需要學生深入理解和記憶。
