Lead-in Show students a picture and have a free talk about the picture. Q:1.What’s the picture about What’s the population of China 3.What’s the problem with large population Then show students another picture about the water shortage. So it is natural to go on reading the passage in Around the world:world population and water. Around the world Ask the students to go through the passage carefully and fill in the blanks on their working sheet. Let’s read and talk Show the students two graphs about the population of China and the water resource in China. Ask them to read the graphs carefully and find out the problems. Lead the students get the following opinions: Half of China is in great need of water. Water resource per person in China is only 1/4 of the world average(平均). And the water resouce per person in Henan is only 1/5 of China average. China is in great need of water. IV Let's make a report Lead them to finish the task in three steps as following: Step 1:Collect data.
